Dr. Dan Shugar heads the WaterSHED lab at the University of Calgary and has published a new paper on a landslide and tsunami that occurred last summer. Find links to the news article and an in-depth video summary from the link in our bio.

Last summer, a landslide in southeast Alaska triggered a 481 m tall tsunami, a wave that reached a peak height of 2.5x the Calgary Tower and is the second-highest in recorded history. Luckily, no one was hurt, but this was a near-miss.
Dr. Dan Shugar, head of the WaterSHED lab at the University of Calgary, reconstructed the event, piecing together eyewitness accounts, seismic information and satellite data. The findings have been published in the journal Science.
