Vinyl fire on friday! 💿🔥
Obsessed with hip-hop culture,
@ubuntudread schooled his friends on the four elements while exploring breaks, deep grooves, and music in general. Often the youngest kid in the record shop, he quickly caught the attention of like-minded music freaks. At 16, in 2008, he played his first strictly vinyl DJ set, blending hip-hop with funk and reggae. 🆙
Soon after, Ubuntu joined his friends’ reggae collective Dub Fi Youth as a selector. In 2010, they built their own sound system,
@youthandtruthmusic , even skipping class to get it ready for their first session. While playing heavy dubs across the country, he kept expanding beyond reggae, DJing at local parties with funk and disco. 🪩
In 2016, Ubuntu co-founded non-profit
@destroate with four hip-hop heads, aiming to teach local youth about hip-hop culture and create a hub for emerging artists. Today, he’s still digging, from flea markets to dusty basements, while sharpening his DJ craft and organizing funk-driven parties like Funky Fridays and Superbad, celebrating authentic DJ and party culture!_________________
@cratediggahh is a 25-year-old sprinter, propelled by rhythm both on and off the track. Since 2016, he’s been fully immersed in the art of vinyl digging, building a carefully curated collection of nearly 1,000 hip-hop records! Each one handpicked, each one carrying its own story.
For Crate Diggah, vinyl isn’t just a format, it’s a ritual. The crackle of the needle, the weight of the record, the thrill of digging through dusty crates… It’s all part of the journey. His sets are delivered strictly from wax. No shortcuts, just pure selection, precise transitions, and an unwavering love for the culture!
