The Bishop’s Gaiters men’s basketball team will represent Canada at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) America 3x3 Basketball Championship, scheduled for May 26–28 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, following their silver-medal performance at the national championship. U SPORTS, the Canadian member of the FISU, announced that Bishop’s will be Canada’s men’s entry at the continental event. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the FISU 3x3 World Cup later this year. “This is an incredible opportunity for us,” said Charles Robert, forward for the Gaiters squad. “I am so excited to have the chance to represent Canada on the international stage. Hopefully my teammates and I can showcase the high level of play that can be found in U SPORTS. After coming up just short in two championship games this year, we’re grateful to have another opportunity to write the ending to our season.” The Gaiters’ roster includes (in photo order): Reggie Jean Seraphin, third-year forward (Ottawa, Ont. / Carleton / Ottawa Next Level), Yanis Malanda, second-year guard (Paris, France / Vanier College), Kyle Maurice, second-year guard (Lennoxville, Que. / Cégep de Sherbrooke) and Charles Robert, graduating forward (Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que. / Suffield Academy). Bishop’s University would like to thank Robert Goldberger ’79, whose leadership contribution made the team’s participation possible, along with Excellence Sportive Estrie - Centre-du-Quebec and Basketball Quebec for their valued financial support.
