Ukrainian Jazz Network is coming to jazzahead!
We are a growing platform uniting six cities across Ukraine — bringing together festivals, jazz venues, jazz schools, and cultural institutions to strengthen and promote the Ukrainian jazz scene internationally.
Our team will be available at the Ukrainian stand 6B52 — we look forward to new connections, meaningful exchanges, and future collaborations!
We are happy to share that the Ukrainian Jazz Network has officially joined Live DMA as an associate member.
Live DMA is a European network of national live music associations, created in 2012. Its members represent live music venues, clubs, and festivals in their respective countries, supporting a community of over 3,000 live music spaces across 18 countries. The network acts as a strong voice for the live music sector in Europe, bridging local realities with European institutions, advocating for better regulations, and increased funding.
For the Ukrainian Jazz Network, this membership marks an important step toward deeper integration into the European live music ecosystem. It opens new opportunities for international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and long-term structural development of the Ukrainian live music sector.
Through this partnership, we gain:
🔸 Integration into a structured European live music ecosystem
🔹 Expansion of international partnerships and cultural dialogue
🔸 Access to proven models of national networks and resource sharing
🔹 Insight into effective cultural policy and advocacy frameworks
🔸 Adaptation of European best practices to the Ukrainian context
🔹 Development of a representative structure for Ukrainian live music professionals
At the same time, we actively contribute to the network by offering:
🔹 Expertise in crisis-resilient cultural and live music management and cultural diplomacy
🔸 Direct access to and facilitation of partnerships with the Ukrainian live music sector
🔹 A gateway to the Ukrainian market for international touring and collaboration
🔸 A dynamic network of venues, festivals, and professionals across Ukraine
🔹 A contribution to strengthening and diversifying the European live music ecosystem
This partnership is not only about representation - it is about building sustainable connections, sharing knowledge, and shaping the future of live music together.
These days we hosted our first strategic session bringing together representatives of jazz venues, festivals, and organizations from five Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Lviv, Rivne, Chernihiv, and Ternopil.
Together we brainstormed the current state of jazz infrastructure in each city, explored our collective strengths, and discussed how we can become stronger and more effective through collaboration.
Because a network is ultimately about people - inspired by shared ideas and united by a passion for jazz.
More to come!

We’re proud to highlight a powerful new interview by Ukrainian music media The Claquers featuring Yevhenii Dubovyk - pianist, composer, producer, and one of the most versatile voices of the new Ukrainian jazz generation.
A big thanks for spotlighting the establishment of the Ukrainian Jazz Network and emphasizing the importance of building a national network, strengthening music infrastructure, and connecting Ukrainian jazz to the European scene.
Beyond this, Yevhenii reflects on the transformation of Ukraine’s jazz community, his genre-crossing projects (from fusion and neo-soul to prog rock and game soundtracks), and the urgent need for stronger music management education.

Ukrainian jazz has reached Antarctica 🧊
Oleksandr Seleznov (Ukrainian drummer and musician) had been following the Ukrainian Akademik Vernadsky research station for a long time. One day, he noticed a post about their vinyl library - a collection that began back when the station belonged to Great Britain.
That’s when a simple thought appeared: what if his own record could one day be played there?
There’s a quiet symbolism in this - the cover of Oleksandr’s album features ice.
A few months ago, he decided to take a chance, wrote to the station, and sent his vinyl to the polar researchers.
Today, he received a video of his record being played in Antarctica 🔥
The feeling, Oleksandr says, is as if the music had been played somewhere in open space.
It might be one of the first Ukrainian jazz vinyl records ever played on the ice continent.
Thank you @antarcticcenterua for supporting Ukrainian jazz, special thanks to Anna for helping make this happen, and heartfelt thanks to @osnova_records and the entire team behind the album.
🎶 Oleksandr Seleznov “The Story Goes On” - melodic jazz-fusion album with powerful drums, elegant guitar lines, virtuosic saxophone, cosmic synths, and a groovy bass.
At #UAjazznetwork, our vision is to build a powerful, interconnected ecosystem that unites the entire Ukrainian jazz industry — clubs, festivals, venues, music schools, labels, cultural institutions, managers, and educators.
Ukrainian jazz is more than performance. It is a living professional network that thrives on:
🔹 Collaboration — strengthening ties between local initiatives across the country.
🔹 Innovation — supporting new formats, education, and cross-sector projects.
🔹 Resilience — growing even in times of uncertainty and rebuilding the cultural landscape together.
We believe that when industry leaders join forces — from grassroots collectives to established institutions — Ukrainian jazz becomes a global voice capable of shaping conversations, opening new opportunities, and building bridges far beyond borders.
Our vision is a community where jazz festivals, clubs, schools, labels, and organizations feel represented, connected, and empowered.
If you work in or support the jazz and improvised music sector, you are welcome to join us. Together, we can strengthen the ecosystem, amplify Ukrainian jazz internationally, and build the future we want to see.

STUDNITZKY SOLO.
STUDNITZKY SOLO.
Manu Katché, Nils Landgren Funk Unit, Mezzoforte, Dominic Miller, Jazzanova.
🔸 як професор Дрезденської музичної консерваторії, він передає свій досвід новому поколінню;
🔸 як засновник фестивалю XJAZZ у Берліні, він створив міжнародну платформу, що поєднує джаз із сучасною електронікою та авангардом;
