There was war before I walked these lands
And there will be war
Long after my body is laid to
Rest in them.
Indians, Mexicans, Spanish, Whites
All fought to keep / claim / conquer
This place we call the American West.
Each one with a different history,
Intention and interest.
Unfortunately like everywhere else
On this planet,
He who has the most gold
Ultimately makes the rules.
Love it. Hate it. Curse it.
It doesn’t matter so long as we
Live in this material world.
The rules are the rules.
I sure as hell didn’t make ‘em.
The only power one possesses against it is to fight with all the love he has in his heart. To join forces with the rival tribe you’ve spent your life fighting, and come together for a greater purpose. To protect God’s land. To protect your sovereignty. To protect the last thing we have in this world that is just and true.
