Are you curious about how massage therapy and dance can intersect? Welcome to SQUEEZE at Fachwerk Allschwil May 15-16. Book your tickets: https://www.fachwerk.site/events/tyra-wigg-squeeze Note: the venue is on the first floor, reached by stairs only. For more accessibility info, contact @tyrawigg SQUEEZE invites you to experience different dimensions of massage therapy. This ancient healing method is here carried out of the treatment room and translated into a social choreography and sensory soundscape for the public. SQUEEZE features five performers and one DJ who knead, press, shake, stretch and squeeze body tissues, thick textiles, and in-between spaces. From these actions, sculptural constellations emerge and dissolve, imbued with pleasure-pain and tension-relief. The audience is invited to join a 20 min massage workshop (in German, English or French) after the performance. Concept, choreography: Tyra Wigg Performance, development: Simon Fleury, Tejus Menon, Natascha Moschini, Yixuan Xiao, Tyra Wigg/Marie Popall Sound design, live DJ: Nya Buerki aka Graue Kreide Costume, scenography: Ernestyna Orlowska, Carolina Misztela, Tyra Wigg Dramaturgical support: Johanna Hilari, Sonja Jokiniemi Choreographic development: Mariana My Suikkanen Gomes Music development: Thy Truong, Nya Bürki, Tyra Wigg Production: produktionsDOCK, Moin Moin Productions, Paula Alonso Gomez(touring) Co-production: ROXY Birsfelden, MDT Stockholm, PREMIO award for emerging artists in performing arts Supported by: The committee for Dance and Theatre Basel-Stadt/Baselland, BLKB Jubiläumsstiftung, Schweizerische Interpretenstiftung SIS, Jaqueline Spengler Stiftung, Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Pro Helvetia, Danse & Dramaturgie(CH) Photo: Karin Salathé Video: Matthieu Moerlen

SQUEEZE invites you to experience different dimensions of massage therapy. This ancient healing method is here carried out of the treatment room and translated into a social choreography for the public. Driven by haptic desire and curiosity in anatomy, five performers knead, press, shake and stretch body tissues, thick textiles, and in-between spaces. From these actions, sculptural constellations emerge and dissolve, imbued with pleasure-pain and tension-relief. The audience is invited to join a 15-20 min massage workshop after the performance. Concept, choreography: Tyra Wigg Performance, development: Simon Fleury, Tejus Menon, Natascha Moschini, Yixuan Xiao, Tyra Wigg/Marie Popall Sound design, live DJ: Nya Buerki aka Graue Kreide Costume, scenography: Ernestyna Orlowska, Carolina Misztela, Tyra Wigg Dramaturgical support: Johanna Hilari, Sonja Jokiniemi Choreographic development: Mariana My Suikkanen Gomes Music development: Thy Truong, Nya Bürki, Tyra Wigg Production: produktionsDOCK, Moin Moin Productions, Paula Alonso Gomez(touring) Co-production: ROXY Birsfelden, MDT Stockholm PREMIO award for emerging artists in performing arts Supported by: The committee for Dance and Theatre Basel-Stadt/Baselland, BLKB Jubiläumsstiftung, Schweizerische Interpretenstiftung SIS, Jaqueline Spengler Stiftung, Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Pro Helvetia, Danse & Dramaturgie(CH) Created in residencies at ROXY Birsfelden, Dampfzentrale, MDT, Arsenic, Tanzhaus Zürich and Kaserne Basel Performances: 9-11.12.2023 Kunsthaus Baselland/ROXY Birsfelden 18, 19.11.2023 depARTures / ACCESS TO DANCE, Joint Adventures, Münich 2 - 3.12.2023 Les Urbaines Lausanne 17-18.8.2024 far festival Nyon 8 - 11.2.2024 MDT Moderna Dansteatern, Stockholm 15-26.5.2026 Fachwerk Allschwil Video documentation: Matthieu Moerlen Teaser ed: Tyra Wigg

“Are the ghosts with us now?” by Persis Bekkering - Reflections on Tyra Wigg’s choreographic work “Lick Life Against the Direction of Its Fur” which premiered at Kaserne Basel 10.9.2025 👉Full text in bio “How could one gain a bit of time forward when faced with an acute shortage of future? The simple answer: by going a bit backward in time.” Haunted by a lost future, three performers summon dances and fashions of the 1980s: an era where former hippies put their hope into market liberalism, where bright colours, campy jazz dance moves, and eccentric individuals dominated. Where algorithms, doomscrolling, and neofascism were already ghostly present. The future might be lost, but with a tragicomical insistence, Lick Life Against the Direction of Its Fur states that “weird” is a powerful act of freedom and resistance. The piece unfolds in two chapters, like two sides of the same coin. On one side: a desire to retreat into the familiar territory of the past. On the other: the gut, screaming that the only place to live is now, in intimate friction with the shit that it entails. In between: a “metabolic rift” – the irreparable rupture between humans and nature that is inherent to capitalism. Credits: Concept, choreography: Tyra Wigg Dance, performance: Kihako Narisawa, Jessica Tamsin Alleman, Declan Whitaker Sound: Elischa Heller Light design, technical direction: Chiara Leonhardt Costume: Anne-Sophie Raemy, Tyra Wigg  Stage objects:  Ernestyna Orlowska, Tyra Wigg Dramaturgy: Juan Felipe Amaya Gonzalez Sound technician: Pam Meyer Production: Paula Alonso Gomez Pre-production & fundraising: Caroline Froelich, Moin Moin Produktion Production assistant: Lean Rüegg Co-production: Kaserne Basel Support: Fachausschuss für Darstellende Künste Basel-Stadt/Baselland, Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, Ernst Göhner Stiftung, Société Suisse des Auteurs (SSA), Stiftung Landis & Gyr Residencies: Kaserne Basel, Gessnerallée Zürich, CAMPO Gent Tour far° festival Nyon 2026 (more TBA).
