It's the little things a partner does that make a big difference when living with T1D 💙🌼

I love the way you love all of me 🥺 9 words paired with a graphic that I'm sure made you feel something 💙
This print was inspired by a thoughtful gentleman who messaged me for a print for his lovely wife who has T1D. He told me that "she is oftentimes self conscious of her pump, and has told me how much your art makes her feel beautiful, so already, thank you so much for everything you do".
I got to creating and felt I needed to caption love, intimacy, and that beautiful feeling of a needed hug from someone you love, and equally loves you ❤
I was so happy when I saw his response which said "this picture has moved me; the image, the words, the intent. Thank you so much."
And this is exactly why I love art 🥰
If you swipe across the photos you'll see a variety of CGMs and pumps. If you'd like to order this print as a Christmas treat please send me a DM☺ x

Nurses - where would we be without them? 💙
I feel incredibly lucky to not only have a best friend who is a nurse, but also so many amazing diabetes nurse friends who pour their hearts and souls into what they do every single day.
They’re the quiet planners behind the diabetes camps, the reassuring faces during the hard moments, and the people who always try their absolute best to put themselves in your shoes to understand life with diabetes.
Today, we celebrate and applaud the nurses who care, advocate, support and make such a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for everything you do. 🩺✨

It's probably a good thing that dexcom moved its trend data over to another tab, as I was checking my trends on the daily 🫠 (I do still wish it was there!) And I feel like I've been staring at this 68% TIR for what feels like forever....the goal started at 80% but it has pivoted to 70% now 😅
I started the Omnipod 5 almost a year ago, and I think I thought it would do all the hard work for me, but I've definitely still found it to be manually intensive.
My last Hba1c was the highest its been since covid, which I didn't expect with an AID pump as I see so many people have such great success. Granted there's error from me, but I guess mentally, I thought I could give it more freedom to do its thing. I wouldn't change pumps as the tubeless option is still the best for me and my lifestyle...but perhaps looping needs to be considered soon? 😬
Would love to hear from you all about your experiences with the AID pumps 🫶

And just like that, we're back to loving life again after a 3 day weekend. 🤣 It really should be a permanent thing...although my BGLs don't think so.

Wedding celebrations for a beautiful friend I met through having diabetes 💙 being a dietitian, Chloe is my go-to carb counter advice giver and she's hella good at it.
The connections you make through having T1D have the impact to stick with you in your personal life, and to me, that's pretty special.
Happy wedding day Chloe 💕🍸
A life with T1D doesn't just affect me, it affects my whole family, and they've always been so incredibly supportive. 💙
I know not every person living with T1D has this support, and I can't imagine how difficult it would be without it.
On the 28 September 2012, the switch flicked. I went from not having T1D, to having it. It turned our whole world upside down. I'm so thankful that mum and dad weren't responsible for my day to day management as I was already a young adult and could learn the ropes myself. But having a child with it, that the parents immediately have to take the reigns, poh that's incredibly tough. Your children might not appreciate what you do for them now with T1D, but I'm sure they'll appreciate it when they're older. 🫶
These are just some of the things my family do for me, that make my life with T1D that little bit easier. Keen to hear yours 💙

To disclose or not to disclose T1D at work… 🤷♀️
It’s something I talk about a lot, and honestly—so many people still feel anxious about it. Not just with T1D, but any chronic condition.
Legally, you can’t be discriminated against… but we all know it’s not always that simple.
For me personally, in both jobs I’ve interviewed for, diabetes came up in casual conversation due to my CGM being visually seen on my arm. I was asked during one interview by the then Director what my hba1c was, which clearly is NOT APPROAPRITE and I answered it with “in the low 6’s” as it was a job I really wanted, and I didn’t expect that the follow up comment from that director would be that his son had T1D as well.
Which could be seen as him trying to be relatable to me, but also, after it I knew that he would have been seeing whether I was well-managed or not and if there were going to be a lot of ‘sick days’ ahead – making a calculated judgement. It was an interesting few seconds of conversation, and I was a lot younger in my career and more naïve. Ask me that question now, and I would have a very different answer (so don’t come at me please as I know how wrong it was!).🫠
I know a lot of people might be navigating this right now, and hearing others’ experiences can really help.😊
