La Red Tipográfica presenta la primera edición de su Programa en línea de Mentorías, un espacio latinoamericano e hispanohablante sin costo para aprender, crear y acompañarnos en comunidad. Buscamos mentorxs con experiencia en diseño tipográfico y aprendices que quieran desarrollar o fortalecer un proyecto de tipografía en un entorno colaborativo, crítico y generoso. 🧡 Sobre el programa Durante 12 semanas, mentorxs y aprendices trabajarán en conjunto a través de sesiones grupales, espacios de retroalimentación, acompañamiento cercano y talleres con profesionales invitadxs. 💚 ¡Que alegría recibir a Sandra! 💚 Sandra Morales es una diseñadora y tipógrafa mexicana con un profundo interés en la historia y la diversidad lingüística. Completó una Maestría en Tipografía en la Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Su proyecto de graduación, “Malinali,” fue reconocido con un mérito en Gerard Unger Scholarship 2024, otorgado por TypeTogether. En 2022, su colaboración en la creación de la tipografía “Bice,” junto a Camila Pire y María Laura Olcina, fue reconocida en la Novena Bienal de Tipos Latinos en la categoría Emergente. Un año antes, en 2021, Sandra fue beneficiaria de The Malee Scholarship, una beca financiada por Sharp Type .
Además, Sandra es miembro de Alphabettes y Times New Woman, comunidades dedicadas a promover el intercambio, apoyo y visibilidad de mujeres en disciplinas relacionadas con el lettering, la caligrafía y el diseño tipográfico. Letrástica Festival 5💚

She studied the Type Design Master at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her graduation project, Malinali, was recognized with the 2024 Gerard Unger Scholarship Merit Award by TypeTogether.  In 2022, her collaboration in creating the “Bice” typeface, along with Camila Pire and María Laura Olcina, was recognized at the Novena Bienal de Tipos Latinos. A year earlier, in 2021, Sandra was the recipient of The Malee Scholarship.

Estas semanas he estado dibujando diacríticos, lo que me dio muchas ganas de volver a revisar los de Malinali 🩷Hice algunos ajustes y recordé que diseñarlos fue una de mis partes favoritas del proceso. #typedesign #diacritics #womenintype #typography #typeinspiration

Quería hacer unas muestras de texto en español con mis tipografías, pero «El veloz murciélago hindú comía feliz cardillo y kiwi» no tiene todas las letras. Así que pensé que sería divertido crear un pangrama con palabras mexicanas y este fue el resultado✨ Gracias a @__tam.s por la sugerencia de incluir «wixárikas», el nombre de un pueblo originario que habita en Jalisco, Nayarit, Durango y Zacatecas, y por el dato del ahuejote, un árbol nativo de Xochimilco. Y, por supuesto, por ser la primera en comentar y animarme con mis ideas💜🫰 ¿Qué les parece? ¿Se les ocurre alguna forma de mejorarlo? Si lo usan, me encantaría ver sus textos 🤩

WIP 🖍️ Hedie is a dynamic stencil typeface, featuring reverse contrast and an italic style. This combination provides a flowing and striking look, perfect for bold and eye-catching designs. Inspired by The Women of Photo-Lettering from the One Line Manual of Styles (1971) and phototypesetting technology, Hedie is an exploration of what contemporary typeface descended from those styles and that technology might look like. Typecookers were my best friends in finding what I found fun to turn into a system; inverted contrast, stencil, and italic slant were my ingredients. ⭐️The name Hedie comes from a blend of the designers’ names Hedda Johnson, Daisy Alcock and Jeanyee Wong. A few months ago, I took the @displaytypedesign course at @typeelectives with @juan_kafka and @__tam.s ❤️‍🔥 and these are some of my explorations and sketches of the construction of my system.
