Designed to be use now as a home office, yoga and a guest house for out-of-town relatives, the 392 square foot ADU is also a potential aging-in-place home for the grandparents in the future.
A custom built-in desk and floating shelves provide a spacious office space. The foldable Murphy bed turns the sleeping area into a multi-functional living space. French doors open onto a generous deck, connecting the interior to the backyard garden.

Tucked into a leafy North Berkeley backyard, this one-bedroom ADU and matching Pod frame a hidden garden. It also happens to be our local showroom, R&D lab, and home to our Head of Design, Ian Miley. Clad in two-toned green corrugated metal, the units are The ADU showcases some of our signature design features: the entryway unfolds into a spacious, open living and dining area, with abundant natural light from the south-facing windows.

While we were building Julia's art studio, she had nowhere to work on her paintings. So the build crew started setting aside construction remnants, like wood offcuts and Hardie board, for her to use as canvases. She made a whole body of work from them.

This ADU was built as a backyard home for their grandmother, Linda, to age in place closer to her family in the Berkeley Hills. The main house enjoys panoramic views of San Francisco across the bay, so the building needed to keep a low profile to avoid obstructing the view.
An efficient 375 sq ft one-bedroom unit is tucked into the corner of the backyard and lays low with a flat roof. The layout developed by the clients maximizes the interior space with a comfortable bedroom and ensuite bathroom along with a living area and large kitchen perfect for hosting friends and grandchildren.
