It really is—being recognized for your photography can feel both exciting and deeply validating. After all the time spent noticing details, practicing settings, waiting for the right light, and hoping a shot turns out the way you imagined, it means a lot when someone else sees the value in it. Looking through my lens, I’m still searching for that same kind of moment: something real, something fleeting, something that only lasts a second but stays with you longer. And every time I see light catching the edge of something ordinary—life moments, a landscape, a moving shadow—I feel that same spark again. Like I’m still standing there at the crosswalk, waiting for the world to line up just right.

Photo from Monument Valley of the West Mitten Butte. East Mitten is behind the part of the Juniper tree. The buttes of Monument Valley tower around 1,000 feet above the desert floor below. According to Navajo legend, they are the carcasses of long-defeated monsters. The buttes are made of red sandstone and are isolated hills with steep sides and a flat top. The buttes have been exposed over the eons as the valley has been eroded.
