Ash’s 1st visit to the dentist. Man, how time flies. To make him feel comfortable and safe, I scheduled to have my teeth cleaned at the same time, so he could watch me go through the process as well. Feeling the need to comfort, he sat in my lap holding my hand and coaching me through the cleaning. Mimicking the dentist, he reminded me that I was doing a “Good job dad” and that we were “almost done” lol. To say this kid has a big heart is an understatement💙 #proudfather #dentist
I watched in awe as you gave birth to our beautiful children: leaving me speechless you gripped my hand giving me the strength to witness your power as you sang and pushed and cried our little ones into this world. Crazy how my morning’s used to begin with the sound of metal keys unlocking the “tray slot” of my prison cell. Breakfast was handed to me through a steel square hole coupled with the cacophony of 500 men beginning another 24 hours of California’s max security institutional life (180, level 4, to be exact). Now it’s morning cartoons, my growing son and the coo’s of his baby sister. Feeling blessed beyond my wildest hopes. Change is real #family #freedom
Becoming a dad was an unexpected turn in my life. Hell, there was a time when I questioned whether I’d live to see 25, let alone ever be released from prison. Now having been home for going on 5 years and father of 2, I can’t imagine my life being any other way. Fatherhood has pushed me to new places within, helping me to feel more grounded, nurturing and determined than ever before. What a gift it is #dadlife
