You will experience chaos. Learning how to find your calm is essential.
Our first Changing Tides | Connecting Calm to Chaos event is officially in the books and what a day it was!
We had the honor of hosting students from Texas State University School of Nursing for a full-day experience grounded in that reality.
The day kicked off with an inside look at the world of flight nursing, hearing directly from the crew of Travis County Starflight about the intensity, unpredictability, and purpose behind the profession. From there, students stepped into hands-on learning alongside local agencies, gaining real-world insight into frontline response and care.
We then shifted into experiential wellness, grounded in the science of Blue Mind and the power of time in nature, alongside tools with 5NP Texas ear acupuncture, mindfulness, and breathwork. Simple, accessible practices designed to support resilience and help regulate stress and trauma in real time.
While these careers are inherently demanding, equipping those entering the field with intentional tools can make all the difference.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up, shared their knowledge, and poured into this next generation.
And this is just the beginning - we look forward to expanding this mission and doing it again!

When we lost Kristen McLain 11 years ago, I discovered the toll that exhaustion, trauma, and stress played in a nurse’s career - a lot too late. I’m speechless to see life go full circle and , now because of her and Jessica Hollis’ selfless careers, we have the platform to share this message. With a front line career, chaos is a norm; but helping these future nurses from Texas State experience the tools to find their calm in the midst of chaos - and change the tides of normalcy - well, very humbling to say the least. Thank you @txstnursing@txst.sno@txstson@txstprenursing@txstnursingsm@opgetoutorg@sewlong_custom_covers@epicsup@5_nptexas@marshall.martha03@jonestowntexas and forever grateful to @sdevil02 for believing. 🩵🪽
