This past Saturday, The College of Liberal Arts had an amazing evening celebrating our honorees Sandra Harley Carey, Geoffrey S. Connor, and Chance Sparks at our annual Distinguished Alumni Benefit Gala! What a wonderful night surrounded by games, food, and our supportive community! Ethics Bowl Team wins Midwest Invitational!🐾 On April 25th, our TXST Ethics Bowl team (pictured L to R) Andrew Usry (CIS, Accounting), Reece Owens (Geography and Environmental Studies, Honors), and Andrew Bencivengo (Management), coached by Zachary Poston (Assistant Professor of Instruction, Philosophy) won the Spring Midwest Invitational at the University of Chicago, going undefeated in 4 matches, and capturing the title by holding a better point differential than Stanford (which was also undefeated). Other teams competing included the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Chicago, and Cornell. A huge congratulations to the Ethics Bowl team and their coach!

Tune in to KTSW 89.9 on Tuesday, April 28 to hear our students broadcast a TXST vs. TAMUCC baseball game in Spanish! Four College of Liberal Arts students from Spanish will be doing the “color commentary” with support from Dr. Marcos Barrero. Dr. Dino Checchi from SJMC will be doing the game calling commentary. This pairing of College of Liberal Arts - Department of World Languages & Literatures with the School of Mass Communication and Journalism from the College of Fine Arts creates a ‘real world’ experiential internship opportunity! Join us as we watch our students doing what the do best, building connections and displaying their skills in a guided, hands-on way!
The students have already completed a broadcast of the TXST vs. UTRGV game on March 24, joined by President Kelly Damphousse! We are so excited to see them return to the field!
