Today we celebrated Perla’s final day at TXRX Labs!
Perla started at the lab as a high school intern and quickly became an integral part of the education department. She worked closely with schools to organize field trips and helped recruit applicants for our job training programs, making a lasting impact on so many students along the way.
Today, we took a short trip down to the old TXRX space on Roberts Street to see how the building has changed over the years and snapped this group photo together.
Good luck with baby number two, Perla! We’re going to miss you and wish you all the best in this next adventure.
Today we welcomed students from Cox Intermediate School to the lab! Students participated in welding, laser cutting, leatherworking, and soldering activities while getting a hands on look at the world of making. Hopefully we inspired a few future makers along the way!

TXRX Labs is hiring!
We’re looking for a design-minded Mechanical Engineer, someone who loves to get their hands dirty and would rather be in the machine shop than stuck in a conference room.
We’re also hiring an experienced Machinist to lead our machine shop and teach hands-on classes to our community.
If you’re passionate about making, sharing knowledge, and building real skills, TXRX Labs might be the perfect fit.
Send your resume to [email protected]
Ready to learn a new skill?
TXRX Labs is here to help. Our 65,000-square-foot facility features dedicated spaces for 3D printing, laser cutting, woodworking, welding, jewelry making, ceramics, and more.
Take a class, then become a member to keep creating, work on your own projects, explore new ideas, and build skills alongside a community of makers.
Judging @TechFestLive youth pitch competition at @TXRXlabs during @HoustonExponential 's H-Town Roundup week!
Proud to have repped the @WolffCenter & @Goodspero as a judge in this innaugural competition.
Congrats to all 16 teams for showing up to pitch (most for the first time)!
1st place went to 3 high school ladies who clearly prepped and practiced their pitch! Unanimous decision on awarding them 1st!
2nd place was a tough decision and as judges we deliberated back and forth on who earned that spot! Ultimately we thought another team of 3 young ladies from the same high school presented their idea the best.
3rd place was a team of middle school students! Although we had lots of questions during Q&A to clarify their problem/solution, the need was there and they were able to answer all of our questions.
Congrats to everyone who participated and my hope is that all the feedback we gave you on the judge's scorecards is implemented for the next pitch competition!
Thanks for a great day @tflceo@dannayussieth & Liana!
