Our hearts were broken today as we learned of the tragic passing of singer-songwriter Ronnie Bowman. While well known for his talents as a bluegrass artist, he also wrote hits for Brooks and Dunn, Chris Stapleton, Cody Johnson, Kenny Chesney and Lee Ann Womack, winning numerous awards across both genres. To us at Texas Heritage Songwriters Association, Ronnie was a friend, first and foremost. He was incredibly kind and generous with his time and lit up the room with his warm smile. We were honored to have him perform at our Darrell K. Royal Pickin' Party last year, and he paid tribute in a video this year to his friend and fellow co-writer Don Cook, as part of Don's Hall of Fame induction. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ronnie's wife, Garnet, family and friends during this difficult loss.
