In celebration of the 25th anniversary of TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art, our dear friend and 2008 Honoree Artist, Jim Hodges, has created a limited edition artwork in collaboration with Artspace, A Phaidon Company. American artist Jim Hodges is known internationally for his singular ability to infuse emotion and narrative into the objects of our daily lives, centering experience as the primary objective of his work. Many of Hodges’ sculptures are forged from humble or found materials that are transformed through his touch, conjuring both memory and imagination. This special edition work embodies a multitude of possibilities with two vessels—one of stone, and one of glass—which can be suspended together in a handmade wooden armature or separately as a wall-mounted relief. All proceeds from this edition will benefit amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, and the Dallas Museum of Art. The edition of 22, titled with you, is priced at $6,500. Tonight our TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art 2024 Honoree artist Nicolas Party will receive the amfAR Award for Artistic Excellence in the Fight Against AIDS. Thank you Nicolas, Hauser & Wirth, and Karma, for your incredible support of TWO x TWO. Your commitment to amfAR and longtime relationship with Dallas are inspiring. As part of TWO x TWO 2024, Nicolas Party has curated an exhibition of his work at The Warehouse, titled Ewe in the Field. Curated by the artist, these galleries include pieces from the Dallas Museum of Art’s collection alongside a number of loans, and they are evidence of the formal and emotive depth of Party’s explorations of landscape. The artist has included a 19th-century work from the Museum’s collection—Rosa Bonheur’s Ewe in the Field—as a historical touchstone and point of inspiration for his work. This presentation marks a return to Dallas for Party, as his first solo U.S. museum presentation was the 2016 site-specific commissioned mural in the DMA’s Concourse Gallery, Nicolas Party: Pathway.
