We had a lovely visit from Alastair of the Melbourne Guild of Fine Woodworking towards the end of last year. We’ve had a set of prototype bench chisels going through testing at the guild, so we had lunch in the workshop and talked about the chisels and dovetailing in cherry and chestnut, but mostly about the joys and challenges of a life in the crafts. It’s been a joy drawing on knowledge from generous people like Alastair to refine the chisels, much appreciated. #melbourneguildoffinewoodworking #twohandsforge

I’ve recently been enjoying working on a luthiers bracing chisel. Used for shaping the instruments internal bracing, the chisels curved body assists the maker to cut the sweep into the tapered ends of the brace.

Over the last couple of months we’ve been refining making processes and design details to fine tune the chisels. Pleased with the flow between components and how the chisels are feeling in hand. Here are some detail shots of the 24mm.
