Wow! What a ride this has been. And just like that, we are empty nesters. After 21 years of raising @gradynyc_ & @cyrus_da_gr38t we are back to being a couple of gays living & loving together. Tim and I had only been together a bit over a year before we became parents of 2 kids under the age of 1. What were we thinking? While we will always be twodadstwokids, October 1, marks a new beginning. We’ll miss seeing Grady & Cyrus’ faces everyday, but that’s why there’s FaceTime. We don’t expect this to lessen the connection we have as a family. In fact, we think it will bond us all together in even more meaningful ways. So many people have asked me if I was sad about this next phase of life. Absolutely not. I’d be sad if our kids didn’t have the want or courage to leave the nest. We will always be here to support, encourage and pay for lunch dates but it’s their time to set the world on fire. So, if you see us out after midnight, just know we’re grown and have no curfew. Thanks so much to all of our family and friends who have poured so much into our family. It truly takes a village. ❤️❤️

In today’s news. This one is off to college. Moved @cyrus_da_gr38t into his college dorm today at @columbiachi which was absolutely mind blowing. He is so thrilled to start fresh in Chicago. I asked him what he is most excited about and he said “I’m excited to be learning”. That nearly took me out and reassured me that he was ready to lock in and grow. He’s come a long way over the last couple of years (IYKYK) and I think these two gap (growth) years were instrumental to his development. In true Cyrus form, he is already taking his role of mayor seriously and connected with so many people these last couple of days. He is armed and ready to make his mark and we support him wholeheartedly. Dig deep son, look people in the eye, do more listening than talking and know that every day there is something new to learn. We couldn’t be any more proud of you & look forward to all you do in this world. See you on the flip side, kiddo. Love, Dad ❤️

20 years ago you made it to planet Earth and have set the world on fire ever since. Wishing you the happiest of birthdays Cyrus. I can’t believe I get the gift of being your Dad. You have come so far and continue to grow. So proud of your accomplishments and the steps you’ve taken to get here. Spent the weekend celebrating Homecoming at Michigan State University. Go Spartans! I graduated in 1992 & have never returned for Homecoming. If I would have known it was going to be as amazing as it was, I would have made the journey much sooner. Met up with a former professor who I also served as teacher’s assistant (TA) to who informed me that Gretchen Whitmer was our student. Toured the campus and East Lansing with Tim as we basked in the perfect fall weather. Tailgated with old friends, met new friends and watched the Spartans kick some butt. So happy to be back, celebrate old times and new and live like a kid again. Green & White never felt so right. #michiganstateuniversity #gospartans
