This journey is one of a kind.
When I started dancing in my early 20s, I never thought about competing. I wasn’t very disciplined.
I started out as the “wild one” of the group — full of energy, but a bit all over the place. Over time, I became like the “mom“ for all the Newcumbers that joined.
And now, in my almost mid-30s, I’ve danced my last competition. And I look back on countless victories and defeats, over 50 amazing people I got to share the stages and emotions with, so many colorful shows we created and a personal growth I never imagined possible. Damn, we won a world championship 😮💨
Looking back, I sometimes wonder: how did we manage this “hobby“? Constantly learning new techniques, coming up with new themes, discussing them (a lot), building storylines, finding costumes, practicing for weeks — sometimes every single day, writing pages of analyses, getting every little finger perfectly in sync, managing stage fright, asking the judges for feedback, learning from it, and starting all over again.
It kinda sounds like a full-time job — but I enjoyed every moment of it. I’m so thankful my younger self never questioned this journey, even in stressful situations 😂
But I’ve come to realize:
If you want to be a role model, for your younger members and for your own kids, you have to live what you stand for.
You have to know what you need — and honor it.
That’s why I’ve made the decision — for my body and my mental health — to step away from competitions.
☝️ Don’t worry though — I’m not done with dancing, and definitely not done with my crew

I’m just closing this chapter to make space for other projects like
@basketsjena , more video content and to recharge myself creatively.
And I will always be the supporting mom to my crew members, if they want to start a new competition season.
I’m so excited for the future — with my girls

Yes, I already miss the intensity of competing.
But I know my decision is the right one to MOVE on 🕺🏻
