On Saturday, May 2, Chicago Fair Trade is throwing the biggest World Fair Trade Day Festival in the country – and you’re invited to taste, learn, and celebrate what people centered supply chains look like in real life! Best of all: anyone who donates $20 is entered to win a brand-new, organic, fair trade mattress courtesy of Earthfoam! We’re bringing together some of the most innovative ethical businesses in the country — think specialty coffee roasted entirely at origin, natural rubber mattresses traced all the way back to smallholder farmers, worker owned manufacturing, artisanal Palestinian olive oils, locally-made rum, and a powerhouse lineup of leaders who are rewriting the rules of global trade. Come checkout our new display @panypazleon This team should be proud of itself. This display turned out beautifully. Showcasing our coffees is always a tricky question for us. In many places, the answer is simple—go online, pick out some details, and furniture shows up. That system doesn’t really exist the same way here. So we get to work... What does it need to handle? (Huge humidity swings in the tropics) What materials actually belong here? (In this case, we have gorgeous tropical guanacaste) What do we know how to build? From there, it’s a lot of sanding, adjusting, and figuring it out as we go. Finding out what can be done by local businesses (design and print!!). It takes longer. But it sure feels great when it is done!
