The $1.3 billion replacement of the Amtrak Connecticut River Bridge between Old Saybrook and Old Lyme represents a major investment in one of the nation’s most critical rail corridors. Originally built in 1907, this essential link along Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor is being transformed into a modern, two track movable bridge designed to improve rail reliability, enhance maritime navigation, and deliver long term operational efficiency for generations to come.
Led by O&G Industries in joint venture with Tutor Perini Corporation, construction teams are tackling complex heavy lift operations that demand precision and reliability. Shawmut Equipment is supporting the effort as the primary crane provider, supplying proven Manitowoc and Grove lifting solutions backed by experienced service and support. These capabilities are helping crews safely and efficiently advance this landmark infrastructure project.

The Manitowoc MLC250 is supporting the transformation of rail infrastructure on the Amtrak Connecticut River Bridge Replacement Project—replacing a century old bridge with a modern, two track movable span designed for reliability and long term performance.
With O&G Industries and Tutor Perini leading this $1.3B effort, and Shawmut Equipment supplying Manitowoc and Grove cranes, this project proves what’s possible when the right teams and equipment come together.
Completion expected in 2030. The future is under construction.

Tutor Perini Reaches a Major Milestone in the @metrolosangeles Purple (D) Line Section 3 Project.
Tutor Perini has reached a successful milestone with the completion of the UCLA deck removal and roadway restoration for LA Metro’s Purple(D) Line 3 project. We would like to congratulate all who contributed, including the craft workers and suppliers, as well as the engineering, quality, and safety teams.
This is a complex project in a densely populated urban environment that includes the UCLA campus and hospital. Weekday hours were extended to prepare for weekend road closures. The crews worked 12–16 hours on Saturdays and Sundays, with a few days off, to get this section completed on time with minimal disruption to the community. We are proud to say we accomplished this intricate task with zero injuries to our workforce.
When completed, Metro’s Section 3 project will extend the Purple(D) Line to Westwood, providing high-capacity transit to one of the most heavily traversed sections of Los Angeles.

Our Midtown Bus Terminal Project in Manhattan is progressing steadily through the early stages of construction. 🚧 Meanwhile, in Brooklyn, the BBJ Jail Project continues its upward momentum, with its steel topping-out ceremony scheduled for late April 2026. 🏗️ Together, these projects reflect the incredible progress driven by all the women shaping our success.
