I started this project about ten years ago with my good friend Sergio Artigas @sir.john.artigas and from 2017-2020 we worked together on this book; the first of a planned seven-issue comic series about the life of Durin the Deathless, the first King of the Dwarves. Recently our friend and fellow fantasy artist Carlos Vera @mentat0209 has joined our team, and we are looking forward to continuing Durin’s story in the issues to come. "a day in the art museum"
I made this over the course of about a week in september, 2005. I was three months out of highschool, not in college, not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. The three white statues were fired clay I made in 12th grade ceramics class, the moving character was made out of plasteline. the song is by Perry Cuomo, the satyr's song is my attempt to play part of Beethoven's pastoral symphony on my 4th grade recorder.
I had a copy of this on DVD, but that got lost, so now this crappy phone video of the dvd playing on my computer is the only version that exists. I'm glad i still have it, it remains my proudest stop motion film (of two, the other is action figures of legolas and gimli fighting orcs)

William Shakespeare

There's no way to know for sure whether the man depicted in the Chandos Portrait is actually Shakespeare or not (London's National Portrait Gallery considers it "likely" but that's not confidence inspiring) but I can see why the image has endured: the high, egg-shaped forehead, penetrating eyes, slightly paunchy, pinched-forward face like a rodent, the pallid color scheme, mona lisa-esq air of mystique to it, that little earing. It's a pretty striking image, and a good face to put to The Bard.
I just wish I had more time to look at it.

Irish-born british parlimentarian, economist and philosopher, ideological opponent of Thomas Paine, ardent critic of the French Revolution, early member of the Whig Party (always loved that name) considered by many the first modern conservative, and the proud owner of a boiled-egg-smoothe, lifelessly painted in his own day, Very difficult to sculpt face.

1888-1965
I'd never read a word of T.S. Eliot's poetry until a week ago, it was like watching Pulp Fiction for the first time; this instant, punchy feeling of " oh, no wonder I've heard of this guy." I'll be coming back for more.
I vastly prefer this portrait without glasses. There must be ways to sculpt glasses that dont make the wearer look like a bug, but it'll take me atleast another try.
