Last month, Izzy, our Head of Operations, People and Culture, and Stephanie, our Head of International Programmes, headed to Malawi π²πΌ
Working closely with our partner, Computers for Enhanced Education, they...
π₯ Assisted with a computer installation at Riverside Academy, an urban private school in Lilongwe
π Conducted monitoring and evaluation at 3 schools across the Central Region of Malawi
π Completed a Q1 stock take at the Computers for Enhanced Education (CEE) HQ, reorganising the workspace to accommodate additional container arrivals later this year
π€ Met with teams from @k2techmalawi and @plan_malawi to explore further opportunities for collaboration
Visits like this are not only key to maintaining and strengthening relationships with our partners, but also allow us to gain new insights and feedback to inform our work here in Edinburgh.
Izzy adds: "Having never been to Africa before, I was unsure what to expect, but I never imagined that a trip could be as inspiring as this one was.
It was extremely moving to hear about the impact our PCs can have on studentsβ lives and see just what a difference they have made in the schools and communities as a whole.
A special thanks to the team at CEE for being so welcoming and friendly. It was great to have an opportunity to exchange ideas, learn more about the way they work and discuss the challenges they face. I will continue to use everything I learnt in my day-to-day job at Pentland!
This was truly the trip of a lifetime, and I am so grateful to the Turing Trust for giving me this opportunity."

As a charity, we're committed to making a positive impact through technology - both globally and locally.
As part of this, thanks to #NationalLottery funding, we're running an 18-month project to support individuals in and around Edinburgh, which aims to:
π― Offer essential training to 30 beneficiaries
π― Deliver refurbished computers to a further 50 individuals
The project primarily supports people facing poverty, disadvantage, discrimination and cost-of-living pressures, not only providing essential skills and training to boost employability, but also helping them build new connections within the local community through in-person workshops.
A special thanks to #NationalLottery players for making this project possible π
Keep an eye on our page for more updates over the coming months!
This week, Steph and Jessica represented the Turing Trust at the @scotland_malawi_partnership Photographic Exhibition - and what an event it was!
The exhibition marks 20 years of Scotland-Malawi partnerships, with each photo highlighting the incredible progress made throughout the years.
Steph, our Head of International Programmes, adds: "The exhibition was a great chance to take a step back and see the bigger picture of the work happening across Malawi.
It was inspiring to see so many stories beyond our own programme and to connect with other organisations who share the same commitment to long-term, people-centred partnerships."
Thank you once again to the Scotland Malawi Partnership for hosting such a fantastic event π We're proud to work alongside so many incredible individuals and organisations - this event highlighted just how much we've achieved together.
Here's to the next 20 years!

We recently donated 200 laptops to support COMESA's youth centre project, helping young people in conflict-prone zones access education, skills training and new opportunities through technology.
Last month, the project really came to life as a youth centre in Baringo, Kenya, opened its doors to the public for the first time. The centre is using 40 of the donated devices to support a range of courses designed to address high school dropout rates in the area, with sessions on ICT, business strategies and entrepreneurship.
The remaining devices will support the development of more youth centres across Madagascar, Malawi, Egypt and Burundi.
As a charity committed to transforming lives through technology, we're thrilled to have had an opportunity to broaden our reach and equip more young people with the tools, confidence and skills they need to shape a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

We're pleased to share that another 60 laptops have arrived in The Gambia! With support from the Gunjur Project Association, these devices have been distributed to Gunjur Senior Secondary School, the UK Jarra Association and the Gunjur Project Community Hub.
The laptops have already made an impact, with one student adding: "The computer studies lessons really interest me and I am motivated to learn more. I hope to have my own computer so I can practice more at home."
As our partnership with the Gunjur Project Association continues to develop, we're hopeful we can expand our reach and support more organisations across the country.
