In October 2021 I recorded a stunning live off the floor session wiith @_bluszn (filmed beautifully by @kawaiiathy ) at @918bathurst . It was released last October, and in Jan 2023 @liammitro and I thought it might be fun to record a lil production breakdown! I’m extremely proud of this project and hopefully there are some interesting tidbits in here for those interested in audio production/mixing/making records. A true dream collaboration in which many happy accidents popped up along the way. Thanks so much to Liam for trusting me to capture this music (& for editing this video!!) and of course to the rest of the band (@imnotchrispruden , @lelandwhitty , @julian.anderson.bowes , @e.west.drums ). Hey pals! Jake @telehornmusic just released their newest and very gorgeous single “Real Life Fan” which you can listen to anywhere. To celebrate the occasion we hung out on zoom for 2 hours talking about the first single from Jake’s upcoming EP, “get to me”. Leaving no stone unturned we open up the mix session in Logic, share some pics from the recording sessions, and generally just have a blast looking under the lid of this very cool song. Happy bandcamp Friday! In the fall I re-mixed/mastered @boyhoodwonder ’s gorgeous tune “herchmer anthem” and you can listen to it at mslomax(dot)bandcamp(dot)com, or on the streaming services.
Ms. Lomax was a very special and short lived musical project involving @maranesrallah , @brendanmoratz , @justin.orok , Liam and myself. The premise was to use field recordings as the building blocks for various improvisations...made possible primarily by Brendan and his wonderful live looping setup. This track features a recording of breakfast being made at Liam’s family home, and in the spirit of having/not having/looking for one’s home we’ll be donating all the proceeds to @esn.to.4real
Re-visiting this was a fun process, especially remembering a time when 5 people could safely play music in a room all day.

Holly jolly Christmas everyone! @maranesrallah and I have released our 2020 seasonal song offering into the world. This one features @mingjiamusic on vocals, @maranesrallah on vocals, synths, and artwork, and me on guitar and mixing.
This is an arrangement dear to our heart that made it’s first appearance at our 2019 anna/manger league show last December. It’s a nice whirly round covered in a warm blanket of verbed-out synthies. We hope you enjoy!

PS this is a picture of me on Valentine’s Day 2018 having brought Mara on a romantic date to the skating rink at Ontario Place only to find that “synthetic” ice literally meant “ice made out of plastic”. Needless to say it didn’t work out very well. But it was nice to skate in 10 degree weather!
@maranesrallah made me a website! it is now very easy to listen to the many amazing projects I have had a hand in over the past 3 or so years. Including but not limited to @decorationdaymusic ’s brand new album, and my score for @danielscotttysdal ’s Wave Form, which is enjoying its Canadian premiere this weekend (wow!!).
