Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection” was a breathtaking way to close the season. The scale, the sound, and the emotion made it a night we will not soon forget. We are so grateful to the many musicians and vocalists who came together to make this performance possible.
To James Bagwell, our conductor; Jana McIntyre, soprano; Teresa Buchholz, mezzo-soprano; the @tulsachorale under the direction of Zachary Malavolti, artistic director; and the members of the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, thank you for your artistry and dedication. We are also especially thankful to the student group, Valenor Strings from @unionschools for their pre-concert performance, which helped set the tone for the evening.

The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the Adelson family and is honored to dedicate the upcoming Classics Series finale performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection” to Herbert and Roseline Gussman.✨💚
Herbert and Roseline Gussman were deeply connected to Tulsa’s cultural life and lifelong supporters of the arts. Herb Gussman studied classical piano at Juilliard and maintained meaningful friendships with many leading musicians of his time. In collaboration with Burch Mayo, he helped found the Tulsa Philharmonic in 1947–48, contributing to the early development of orchestral music in Tulsa.
The grandchildren of the Gussmans present this concert in celebration of their grandparents’ love of music and their indelible gifts to the musical life of Tulsa.
We look forward to sharing this powerful and meaningful performance in their honor.
