16-year-old Jakobe Frazier recently won @okcthunder ’s Black Heritage Art Contest with his work “Defenders of the Flag.”
“I was inspired by my grandfather, who fought on the frontlines of the Vietnam War,” Jakobe says. “I also learned about the history of other Black American soldiers we don’t always hear about, like the Buffalo Soldiers. It made me feel really proud. When I heard about the contest, I knew right away that this was the story I wanted to tell.”

Did you know…? The Oklahoma State Capitol is one of only two state Capitol buildings located directly on Route 66.
In our May issue, @erinepage explains how a visit to the Capitol can be a meaningful destination for families:

Admission is free, and visitors are welcome weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or weekends 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Free guided tours are offered on weekdays, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
