Meet the team 🍇 Pod Crowther, Co-Founder Pod is one half of the founding duo behind @TuffonHall , alongside her husband Angus. As fourth-generation custodians of the family farm, in 2011 they made the bold decision to diversify their 1,200-acre estate. Alongside traditional farming, they planted their first vines - the beginning of Tuffon Hall’s journey into English wine. By 2014, their first bottle was released, marking a key milestone in the estate’s story 🍷 Since then, the vineyard has produced award-winning wines recognised by WineGB, including Trophy, Regional and Gold awards for their Beatrice Still Pinot Rosé, plus Gold at the IEWA. Oz Clarke described it as “deliciously easy drinking and knocks the socks off any Provence stuff.” Family is at the heart of everything they do, with three wines named after their daughters - Amelie, Beatrice and Charlotte. A first red is now in production… rumour has it it may be named after their fourth child, Hamish. Kate joined in 2024 and keeps all @TuffonHall stays running smoothly - The Farmhouse and our glamping sites: The Bothy, The Poacher’s Hut, and The Silo, all with wood-fired hot tubs and vineyard views. She leads a team of six who focus on the details - soft linens, fluffy towels, and spotless, cosy spaces. Guests enjoy thoughtful touches like fresh local produce and our own wines, with a welcome hamper and flowers in The Farmhouse. 🍷 How do we make our Rosé wine?🍷 Angus takes us behind the scenes in the vineyard, where our mature Pinot Meunier grapes are carefully grown to create both our sparkling and still Rosé wines. Traditionally found in the Champagne region of France, Meunier is a key grape variety that brings softness, fruitiness, and balance to sparkling wines. Its buds often carry a reddish tint, and its leaves can look dusted with flour - which is where its name comes from, the French word “meunier” meaning “miller”. Our vines are still around 5 years away from full maturity, but are already producing exceptional quality fruit. One of the biggest surprises when we planted in 2011 was the soil beneath our feet - chalk beds, just like those in Champagne, bringing a beautiful natural minerality to our wines. It’s still a delicate time of year, with late frosts always a risk, but we’re hopeful for a fantastic harvest this September.
