CULTIVATE Featured Artist: Sa’Nah Britt!! ''Dance and the arts feel essential right now because they help people connect in a more human way. They build empathy by letting us experience someone else’s perspective without needing words. In a time where it’s easy to feel disconnected or stuck in our own viewpoints, art creates space to listen, feel, and understand each other more deeply.'' Sa’Nah Britt (CULTIVATE Trainee) a Twin Cities native, began her journey at The School at TU Dance Center as a student in 2014. Throughout her tenure, Sa’Nah has been part of several works amongst other choreographers. She has also danced the solo “Witness,” choreographed by Alvin Ailey, “New Second Line” by Camille A. Brown, “Four Corners” by Ronald K. Brown, and a trio entitled “This World Anew,” choreographed by Yusha-Marie Sorzano. Notably, “This World Anew” was originally commissioned for the Edges of Ailey exhibit at the Whitney Museum in New York, a tribute to the life and legacy of Mr. Ailey. As a CULTIVATE Trainee, teaching artist, and choreographer for the school, she continues to pursue and shape her passion at TU Dance, and strives to inspire and encourage others in and outside the world of dance. CULTIVATE Featured Artist: Rayven Cherry! "...such a God-given blessing that embodies a song of worship and calling, in the body, mind and soul as one. It moves individually and collectively as one drum, in ways that words cannot articulate. It's used to express, unify, celebrate, call, minister and to spread a message. This embedded essence can fruitfully produce mental, emotional, medical, physical, spiritually and social healing, accountability, elevation, knowledge, wisdom and power. It's quite the awakening tool that helps us to remember to love and be grounded in the collective and individual shell, body, that contains our soul and spirit, reflecting Him in which we are made." Rayven Cherry (CULTIVATE Trainee) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Apple Valley, MN. She started self training at the age 9 up until high school where she then began taking dance classes from Kristin Blatzheim. She trained and competed on a dance team at Headline Dance Studio under Enrico Rodriguez. She attended Minnesota State University of Mankato and The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, earning her Bachelors in Fine Arts, where she studied under artists like Darrius Strong, Ananya Chatterjea, Erin Thompson, Carl Flink, to name a few. She also performed in works choreographed by Brother(Hood) Dance, Shakia “The Key”, Shapiro and Smith, and Elayna Waxse, to name a few. Her work “In-teriority,” was also selected to perform at the American College Dance Association in Wisconsin by The University of Minnesota’s Dance Department. Through Christ's Spirit, her artistry explores and exhorts the necessity of internal & external healing, awakenings, breakthroughs, interconnectedness, empowerment and alignment from and within the scarred heart of the world. “God's parables reveal the soil that many are sought out for, but only a few will discover....I guess I have discovered it.” Currently, she is a 1st year CULTIVATE Trainee at the TU Dance Center where she is deepening more within her explorations and artistry. CULTIVATE Featured Artist: Charles Rosario! "First, the arts give form to what we can’t easily say. The arts build empathy in a time that desperately needs it. When you watch someone move, struggle, breathe onstage, your nervous system responds. Today’s world's fast, fractured, hyper-digital dance that becomes a place to return to the body, to each other, and to meaning." -Charles Rosario Charles Rosario (CULTIVATE Trainee) is a Dominican American storyteller and multifaceted creative from Washington Heights, New York. He began his dance training at age six on scholarship at Ballet Hispánico’s School of Dance and continued his studies at LaGuardia High School for the Arts, ABT’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, Sarasota Cuban Ballet School, and MOVE|NYC|. A 2021 YoungArts Winner in Modern Dance, Charles has performed internationally in Panama, Mexico, and Cuba, and has appeared on Sesame Street. In 2022, he made his professional debut with New York Theatre Ballet, touring nationally and performing works by Merce Cunningham, Agnes de Mille, José Limón, Jerome Robbins, and others, alongside world premieres by Marco Pelle, Gabrielle Lamb, and Arthur Avilés. His artistry and journey have been featured in Dance Teacher Magazine and on the cover of Listín Diario. He is currently in his second year as a member of TU Dance’s CULTIVATE, A Trainee Program.
