Last night I had the honour of presenting to the Trinidad & Tobago Field Naturalists' Club [one of the oldest natural history societies in the Caribbean, founded in 1891] on the marine mammals of T&T and the wider Caribbean. 🇹🇹 🌊 From whales to manatees and dolphins right in our own waters, T&T harbours an extraordinary marine legacy. 🎙️⛴️ My work in bioacoustics is literally about listening to these animals, but the bigger mission is to give them a voice so that their lives can be heard and understood by the people who make decisions about our oceans. Thank you to the @ttfnc for the invitation and warm welcome, and to everyone who came out in person and tuned in virtually. The turnout and the questions at the end meant a lot. Awareness is the first step. You cannot protect what you don't know exists. 🐋 🐳 🫍 🐬 🦭 Full talk coming to the TTFNC YouTube channel soon - link to follow. Thanks for the contributions 🙏🏽 @exploringtt34 @zakwildlife #marinemammals #trinidadandtobago #conservation #caribbean #bioacoustics 🐳 photo: ©️Nadia Aly (at)nadia.aly.photo Event photos: bryan.photos.tt (Content credits contained in images)

💧 World Water Day – March 22 Rivers are vital to our environment and our communities. They provide freshwater for drinking, agriculture, and daily life🐟 They support diverse ecosystems full of fish, insects, and wildlife🌿 They connect forests, land, and oceans🌎 They play a critical role in maintaining ecological balance But our rivers are under threat. Pollution, improper waste disposal, and human activity are degrading these vital systems. When rivers are polluted:❌ Wildlife suffers❌ Water becomes unsafe❌ Ecosystems collapse Clean rivers mean healthy ecosystems, safe drinking water, and a sustainable future for all of us. 🌱 What you can do:• Don’t litter or dump waste• Reduce plastic use• Participate in clean-ups• Spread awareness Every drop counts. Protect our rivers. Protect our future. #WorldWaterDay #ProtectOurRivers #Freshwater TTFNC #Conservation WaterIsLife #TrinidadAndTobago
