Argentina — my love story 🇦🇷 My baby girl was born there, and something new was born inside of me too. The people are incredible. The energy is like nothing I’ve ever felt. Argentina showed me a completely different way people treat each other — especially when it comes to kids, pregnancy, and birth. So different from what I grew up with back in Russia. I fell hard for this country. For its people, for Argentine tango, for the way they live and breathe sports, and for the way they show up for each other and for children. It’s totally normal there for an elderly stranger to walk up to a dad-to-be, pat him on the shoulder and say, “Congratulations, man!” Or peek into your stroller and tell you with their whole heart, “What a beautiful baby you have!” Just pure warmth. Pure kindness. No walls. I only managed to shoot two maternity sessions while I was there — because I was very much pregnant myself at that point. Over thirty weeks along 😅 And that’s also where I met some amazing Russian people who became real friends. Published ✨ I dreamed about this shoot for 10 years. Back in Russia, I used to imagine a series like this — a woman in flowing tulle, surrounded by blossoms, caught between stillness and movement. For years, it stayed a dream. This year, I finally made it happen. I organized a creative event in California and brought together an incredible team — talented photographers, the amazing makeup artist @anna.lefar , and the stunning @lidii__b . When we set the date, the forecast was nothing but rain. My team was worried. I told them: “It’s going to be sunny. Everything will work out perfectly. Just watch.” And it did. On the way to the orchard, we passed a big billboard: “Jesus Loves You.” I smiled. Of course. The almond trees were in full bloom. Petals falling like confetti. Golden light everywhere. Ten years of dreaming — coming true in a single evening. The series “Beauty Lives in the Everyday — If You Choose to See It” is now published in Le Désir Magazine and Arrant Magazine. THE FORGOTTEN ORCHARDS OF THE BAY AREA ✦ A story hidden beneath Silicon Valley’s concrete Before tech campuses and freeways, this land was the largest orchard the world had ever seen. Eight million trees — including almonds — bloomed every spring across the Santa Clara Valley. They called it “The Valley of Heart’s Delight.” In the 1700s, Spanish missionaries carried almond cuttings from Spain to California’s coast. The trees struggled in the cool, damp air. It wasn’t until growers moved them inland that almonds finally flourished. By the 1920s, the valley had 39 canneries and orchards as far as the eye could see. Each February, the valley floor turned white and pink — California’s own cherry blossom season. Then came the 1960s. The tech boom. The bulldozers. The Valley of Heart’s Delight became Silicon Valley. Today, only a handful of heritage orchards remain. But every spring, just an hour from the Bay Area, almond trees still bloom. In Woodland, Dixon, and Winters, rows of trees burst into clouds of pale pink and white — a reminder of what this land once was. This is why I created my “First Bloom” series — to capture the fleeting beauty of almond blossoms and honor this land’s deep roots. Dreaming of a portrait session surrounded by blossoms?
