We celebrated our anniversary, one birthday, and maybe one hanukkah here. And we couldnโt resist one last anniversary dinner as an excuse to come back. (Anniversary on equinox ๐ซ)
Uotora was filled with fans of this small exquisite place, and we had such a special night.
Their last day is 31st, and they said that you can still make a reservation, depending on the day! Last chanceโcall!! It's a real sushi in Brooklyn.

Yasunao Tone used to stop by my first gallery location at 172 Attorney St with no advance notice. It was always around 6 or even 7pm, when I was working late or just about to leave, because that was the time his day began.... He told me that he was a night owl. So it was his "morning" walk. He would walk in, and we would chat for hours, until I really had to head home. He just woke up and started the day, so he was full of energy ๐
And my gallery relocated to the current location in SoHo, on Broadway and Canal, and such random visits stopped.
Today, Tone-san's memorial took place at Artists Space, just two blocks south of where I am now. The short walk from my office to Artists Space made me think of his surprise visits at 172 Attorney.
RIP Tone-san. It was such a privilege to have had the opportunity to meet you in New York and spend time with you in such a wayโจ

Traveling to Japan 5 times in 2025 was intense, but I enjoyed seeing all my friends there more this year, on top of friends here in the U.S. ... And the opportunities given to us, the gallery, to the artists, and more.
Thank you everybody for paying attention to Ulterior's gallery program and artists, giving us such incredible opportunities in 2025, sharing meals, drinks, thoughts, and advice. I hope we do more in 2026!
The next Japan trip is most likely in the spring! ๐คฉ
