That cargo bot from the other day has some quasi-procedurally-generated arms (next image) and sub-components to make it easier to track and animate. Basically, each arm is a curve line of some length pointing at a vector, with the following segment generated from its predecessor's endpoint and picking up said endpoint's vector. The joints are generated at the starting point of each segment, with some simple arithmetic to account for their position along the bot's hull. The result is an armature that accepts different models for each joint with arm lengths that can change on the fly, with rotations controlled by a single set of inputs. ... ... ... #blender3d #3d #3dmodeling #animation #space #spaceship #robot
