@theerealmccombs and @agrapedope from post-rock band @trts go record shopping at Amoeba San Francisco. From Tom Verlaine, Silent Serpent, David Thomas of Pere Ubu & Broadcast, it may seem like they only pick albums by dead musicians. But never fear, they talk about some living artists too!

Tortoise is performing at Warm Love Cool Dreams Music & Arts Festival on May 23rd at the Salt Shed in Chicago.
Weโre not worthy. The long-running, forever consistent Tortoise embodies a quintessential Chicago soundโ not only in their undeniable influence on the post-rock genre but also their ability to transcend and contort the genre altogether. On their newest offering Touch, released late last year on revered Chicago-born label International Anthem, the band crafts dreamily cinematic expressions, often begging the question of what rock music can be, and what moods it can provoke.
In their three decades as a group, Tortoise have delivered consistently hypnotic, lush and vast sonic arrays; juxtaposed, layered rhythms interlocking, rubbing together with enough friction to create something both electric and exciting, notably in commercial breakthroughs like TNT (1998) and Standards (2001), among many other fantastic releases. What a spectacle it is to see it all come together in a live setting. And surely why not on a beautiful evening in May on the Fairgrounds of the Salt Shed while the sun begins to descend into the horizon.
