UPDATE: All action on S. 208 was postponed until Tuesday. Please use the weekend to reach out to your representatives and encourage them to support the Berbeco/McGill amendment to keep federal agents included in the bill.
Today we are scheduled to vote on Senate bill S. 208 which prohibits law enforcement from wearing masks and requires them to clearly identify themselves.
The principle is actually pretty simple. If someone is exercising governmental authority over members of the public, particularly in moments involving detention, arrest, or the use of force, the public has a legitimate interest in knowing who that person is.
That principle should not suddenly disappear because the patch on the uniform says “federal” instead of “state.” I intend to do all I can to keep federal agents included in the bill. Today is a good day to call the State House and reach your Representative(s) as they vote.
To call your Vermont State Representative, use the legislative Sergeant-at-Arms’ office at 802-828-2228 or 1-800-322-5616 to leave a message for your specific representative. #iceout
It’s merch day. The next day, we wear the merch. Rules. He had socks for sale as well, but I wasn’t willing to pose with a sock as Flea would have. #flea #honora #livemusic
Big thanks to the Agency of Natural Resources for the extensive tour of the Waterbury dam today. What an amazingly dedicated and incredibly knowledgeable staff who keep our dams in order.
