Gather around kiddies… it’s STORY TIME. A little peek into Trouble Bound history. Way back in 2002 we recorded 3 or 4 tracks for a 4 way split LP for FDH Records. One of my best friends, Rob, was the first person I played the tracks for in his car when we were at work. In the middle of the last track, he looks up at me in a dead serious look and says “you gotta send this to Hellcat.” A lot of our favorite bands were on Hellcat Records at the time such as my all time favorite-Rancid. I kind of laughed it off but I saw the look in his eyes that he meant it. I got lost in that daydream for a few minutes picturing us signing a 3-record deal with @hellcatrecords which I heard rumors was the standard. I pictured us opening for @rancid on a world tour. I quickly snapped back to reality as our lunch break was over we had to get back to our job on the overlay line manufacturing chips for PlayStation 3. …. I lost Rob to suicide at the end of the that year. When I finally put my head back together from this loss (which shattered it into so many shards)… I happened to listen to that LP those songs we had listened to were on. I remembered what he said about sending the tracks to Hellcat and thought; “fuck it, this is for you pal.” I sent the CD to the address listed on the back of my Rancid records. About a year later I heard back from someone named Chris saying he liked the CD and that he wanted to see the band play in Los Angeles, if we had any dates to let him know. I won’t go into the reasons we never made it out there to play for him (that’s a story for another time perhaps). But that letter that seems kind of like a generic “thanks for your submittal” letter, is actually signed in ink ✍🏻 by a real person. If you look at the dates in the one tile, this was around 19 years ago haha. I wonder if the invitation still stands? And where is Chris LaSalle today and what’s he up to? Is he still with Hellcat? Let me know if ya know… well, that’s it for story time today. Til next time, “see you in the pit” in LA #recordlabel #punk #punkrock #2000spunk #punkhistory #punkband #homeboys #bestfriends #thepast #troublebound #hvhc

Flashback pic of the day, circa 2003. I still have and wear this Social Distortion jacket that was bought for me as a birthday gift at their merch table at a show that year. It was a surprise …because I wasn’t at that show. I was wearing size Small tee shirts at the time and this jacket is a 2XL. Needless to say it worked out cuz it still fits 😉 Here we are 23 years later with a new album on our hands… excited to see them in September. Glad they’re still going strong 💪 @johnnynokeys@socialdistortion
