Headlining Troostival KC Music Night is none other than We The People! Led by Eddie Moore.
Black American Music runs deep in pianist and bandleader Eddie Moore’s veins. Raised in Houston Texas, he began his musical journey at Texas Southern University where he later earned a Bachelors in Arts and immersed himself in the Houston music scene. As a lifelong musician traversing a number of bands and styles he relocated to Kansas City to study under Bobby Watson at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he received an M.A. in Jazz Studies.
Moore’s expansive sensibilities have allowed him to share the stage and record with distinctive artists such as Bobby Watson, Pam, Watson, Logan Richardson, Maurice Brown, Boys II Men, Brian Blade and the Fellowship, Jon Batiste, Erykah Badu, Mosdef, Bilal, Ledisi, Chantae Cann, Krystal Warren, Roy Hargrove, Janelle Monae, Andre Hayward, Tivon Pennicott, Various Blonde, Johnny Good, 77 Jefferson, and the Marcus Lewis Big Band.
We The People is the new inturation of Moore’s creative genius. A power trio with a DJ, this group’s heavy sound will take the listener on a journey of emotions. With Zack Morrow on drums, Ryan Lee on bass, and Moore on keys, these gentlemen take music way beyond what we know as “jazz".
Witness the power of Marcus Lewis tonight at 7:00 p.m.!
Marcus Lewis holds a BM in jazz performance from Valdosta State University and MM in trombone performance from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Marcus currently lives in Kansas City, MO where he leads his own quintet and 18-piece big band.
