I felt the urge (maybe a calling?) to explore the LA river today. Probably because I’ve been writing and thinking a lot about our connection to the land, which is synonymous to our connection to each other and to God or Spirit or Higher Power or any other name you prefer.
And so I found myself—despite the concrete banks, the distant I-5 freeway noise, the power lines—having a peaceful walk listening to the quiet murmur of the river and watching the egrets and mallards settle down for an afternoon rest.
The park is named after Lewis MacAdams, poet and activist, and it’s befitting that his poem “Solitude Conundrum” (slide 4) marks the river path. Beauty abounds. Even in the unexpected places. #earthday #lariver #habitatrestoration #urbanecology

A peek into my inspiration and prep for “Rage Rhonda.” Been doing some spring cleaning and came across my mood boards and shot lists. These are just a few of the references I used for our setups. Scroll to the end for the full mood board, including Bottle Rocket (1996) and Punch Drunk Love (2002).
It’s always fun to look back on our prep vs the final film. We shot a 10 page script with three different locations in two 8-hr days with a cast & crew of 11 (not including myself!) 💪🎬🙌Huge thanks as always to my talented cast and crew!
