We’re thrilled to announce Eugenie Vronskaya’s first course in Europe: ’On Seeing’, running from 21 - 28 June in Casole D’Elsa, Tuscany. In Vronskaya’s course, she will teach artists to consider the translation of the three-dimensional world into two-dimensional forms. Backdropped by the Tuscan hills, ‘On Seeing’ will look to develop - through simplification and reduction - your own visual language. For more information, please see our website or contact us directly.

Triptych is pleased to announce our first course of 2026: Lucy Threlfall’s ‘First Truth’. Join us for six days of thorough tuition in Verrocchio Arts Centre - a large artist’s studio and dedicated museum established by sculptor and art historian Nigel Konstam - set within the rolling hills of Tuscany. Translated literally, the Italian word for spring ‘primavera’ means first truth, or first green. Threlfall’s course will center the notion of painting loosely, working with the first truths that reach our eyes before the brain can make sense of form and color. The course’s materials are chosen with this concept in mind: drawing with charcoal and painting with large brushes aims to keep work free and expressive. The motivation to paint, and respond to what we see and sense, comes from an impulse or attraction that we don’t understand, but which compels us to keep going. Threlfall’s tuition aims to prompt an immediate sense of action and gesture. Tryptich’s ethos is to give artists the rare luxury of complete liberation from daily life: breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert - not to mention aperitivos - are provided; cabs and transportation arranged; grocery runs happen before sunrise. All to ensure the artists are able to dedicate themselves entirely to their practices. The course offers a variety of room which boast views of cobble stone streets and the adjoining countryside. 🍴 Meet latest chefs Isaac and Shamil from @triptych_course “Triptych food is intentional sharing of our knowledge and experiences. Pulling from our memories to hopefully evoke your own, sharing the experience eating good food, maybe having a drink and possibly even a cigaret afterwards.

At our artist retreats, we discovered the civilising truth that good food unites and the enormous pleasure in playing host while others feast.” Want to book Triptych for a private event? Exhibition day! On the final day of all our courses we dedicate the afternoon to exhibit the wonderful paintings and drawings from the week. It’s always an impressive day, with the lessons of the course evident in the work itself. The exhibition allows for a discussion and critique before a big three course final meal!

Menu! on our courses our menu is shaped by our environment. We have now had courses in seven different locations, each with their own bespoke menus that draw from the local environment and season. Part of the challenge and joy of the nomadic component of our courses is finding local high quality vendors and crafting menus around their produce. Here we have Devon lamb shanks for neighbouring farm, salsa verde and Boulangère Potatoes- punchy!

Triptych enters into its fourth year of operation in 2026 which is truly mind boggling. A huge thank you to everyone who has come on one of our courses. Triptych started with the idea that great strides in one’s art practise can be made over a week of intensive teaching by minimising distractions and surrounding yourself with other artists under the supervision of a tutor. We are still committed to this, to ensure that you have the best food and delicious wines and are thoroughly stimulated throughout your week. If you are looking to get back into painting in 2026, or are looking to level up, then come and join us on one of our beautiful locations in 2026!

First Truth - a week’s painting course at the Verrocchio Art Centre, Tuscany with Lucy Threlfall April 13-20 2026 There are still spaces for this very special week… the theme for this course is Primavera. The italian word for spring can be translated as ‘first truth’ and this describes the essence of what we will be venturing to capture as nature bursts into life in the rolling countryside around Casole d’Elsa. We’ll be working both outside in the landscape and in the beautiful studio at Verrocchio, focusing on that first truth that hits us before our brain tells us what we’re looking at, allowing understanding of form and colour to grow into our own unique connection to the landscape. It’s a chance to switch off from the world, sink deeper into your painting practice, while eating the most glorious food and absorbing the timeless beauty of this tiny medieval town. Some clips from @lucyjbthrelfall ’s course last year at Verrocchio Arts Centre. Lucy Threlfall returns to the studio in Tuscany this April for her course ‘First Truth’, with six days of intensive tuition. Drawing and painting will take place indoors across our three studios, and outside on the terrace garden and turret, with stunning views over the rolling hills. The in-house private museum established by Nigel Konstam - dedicated to his work on Rembrandt’s ways of seeing - as well as his extensive library of art books covering everything from British Modernism to Cubism, provide ample inspiration. Three meals a day (not to mention local wines) cooked by our chef punctuate what is otherwise complete focus on developing artists’ practices. Verrocchio boasts a variety of beautiful rooms overlooking the cobbled streets or the valley below the walls of Casole D’Elsa. Email [email protected] or DM for more info.
