RED camera frame grabs from Mexico…
Just wrapped an amazing few days at the
@puertovallartadownhill with
@wes_sends of
@triobehindbars and a slew of mountain bike legends.
For many—including 11-year old Weston—it was their first go at an urban event. Walking the course made me so happy to be a camera guy because it was so committing, tight, gnarly and straight up scary. I lost count at 437 seriously sketchy hazards. It was brutally hot and humid, yet thousands came out and lined the streets to witness and cheer on the madness.
Weston was coming off of surgery for a broken tibia less than two months ago; it’s safe to say he’s fully back in the game. The crowd was nuts about the niño; he couldn’t walk ten feet without signing an autograph or obliging for a selfie. 3,625 high fives. And the roars he garnered each time he dropped in for the race course or the finishing triple jump line towards the ocean were something else. And he did not disappoint: big backflip cans, Suis, Indy airs, flatspins…The energy emanating from that crowd was special and is something those athletes will remember for the rest of their days.
Thank you Puerto Vallarta,
@johnysalido and
@petersalido , the crowd, and the athletes for another incredible one for the memory bank! I love this life of constantly being around good people who do really rad things.
*Some may notice I haven’t mentioned Wes’ brother, Camden, yet. He fell sick and was present but unfortunately unable to compete. Next year!
It's going to take a bit before I can drop into this edit (ski movie edit time), but it's going to be a good one, so keep an eye out by following
