#scrawlfest2025 - day six ‘pepper’ Precious prizessss the peppersssss are to the snake that guardssss them. They coil their body around them ready in ambusssssh for any who come to pick them for themsssselvesss.. Ok so there is definitely a snake in this one because I found the idea of a snake saying peppers funny. I also had a brilliant time painting with my gouache paints for this picture, they might be drying up now but I loved the turquoise colour I got and the shading on the peppers especially as red is not a common colour for me to paint with. #snakeart #dailyart #scrawlrbox #snakeofinstagram

#scrawlfest2025 - Day five ‘Midnight’ The hour had struck midnight and the Owlings gathered, each in turn too their chance to leap and snatch the morning star and make the nighttime sky last forever. But they leaped too short and their aim was bad and so once more the morning came... Switched mediums for this picture and had fun with the prompt not taking it quite as literal as the last one, I wanted to use the prompt itself as the first or only word in a story and the picture explains the rest. For this one I used my old and sad himi gouache palette and stuck to a limited few cooler colours, topping off some of the final details with neocolour crayons and ink. #folkart #dailyart #scrawlrbox #creatureartwork

#scrawlfest2025 - Day Four ‘Pan’ The cat looked innocent to how the dishwasher had broken and now they were miniture floating in the debris of what was once the kitchen. How to fix this mess was a question for another time, the sponge was rapidly soaking up the water and about to sink... Not my best photo you might have to excuse that part Im mid changing my desk set up. I took this prompt to mean literal pots and pans but not cooking because that felt a little too obvious, then I wondered about the clean up after and some how we got a cat who is obviously a criminal and the owner side of a dishwasher. Painted with watercolours and a posca acrylic paint pen, with some neocolour crayons for extra details and white ink. #artchallange #dailyart #scrawlrbox #scrawlfest

#scrawlfest2025 - Day three ‘Glove’ Up into the air the fleet of glove balloons soared and right into the path of a shoal of flying fishes. The raccoon pilots were all too pleased and offered them some bread treats on their way upto the stars. Why are all gloves meant just for your hands and not the sky, I think I could have picked slightly better colours for the rim of the hand on this one but I am super happy with how pink things have turned out, it is not a colour I normally use so much but gosh this might be the start of something. #scrawlfest #artchallange #scrawlrbox #dailyart

#scrawlfest2025 -Day two ‘Wolf’ 'woff? Where are you woff? come on now its time to come inside its cold' She shouted, looking for the almost tame giant wolf to fetch him in for the night. Woff had other plans, he was doing his best despite his size to hide among the castle ruins. Wanted to do a wolf as a bit more of a character than a mysterious cryptid who lives in the wilderness, this one is clearly more of a pet but also very very big. I have no explanation as to why it is so big, maybe it ate its vegetables but off the wolf is large! #scrawlfest #artchallenge #scrawlrbox #dailyart

#scrawlfest2025 - Day one ‘One’ The Paladin, the hero fought off the many dice shaped meteors as they fell from the sky. Seventeen, four, nine... but nothing could prepare them for the in coming 'one' Possibly one of the harder prompts I’ve had in a monthly challenge right at the start but I thought it would be a fun opening page to make a dice based reference. #scrawlfest #artchallenge #scrawlerbox #dailyart

2025 in Drawings I look back at my year and I realise that what I first thought was nothing is still a rich tapestry of creative things I did and forgot about in the fog. I own too many art supplies and I better use them, so thats my new years plan and the rest is to keep going and keep creating. #myyearinart #2025artwork #meettheartist #myart #proundofmyself

Sleeping on a bed of crowns this small squirrel never thought of the riches of the gems and gold but the shelter they gave it, I like the play of what wealth means with this one and how wonderful and festive it turned out despite not being an actual festive card. This painting will also be going up for sale at this years #clutterbuys auction over in their group on Facebook. #festivepainting #squirrelart #folkart #cosyart #norfolkartist #rustic #myillustration #watercolourart #squirrelpainting

Scrawlerbox No. 122 ‘Hocus Pocus’ Hocus Pocus… nom nom nom! #scrawlrbox #scrawlrboxchallenge A small dragon magically making its way into the apple stash this fall to work the best magic trick of them all - making the apples disapear! Could not have made this piece without my first little wizard to teach me how to get the most out of the derwent pencils. They turn the pastels of the promarkers into more richer full colours but also give the apples the texture on the surface. There were just the right amount of colours for me to really make this one feel cosy. #scrawlrbox122 #dragonart #artchallenge #scrawlrboxchallenge #Dragonlove #cutedragonart #autumnillustration #scrawlrbox #subscribtionbox #art #artchallenge #artsupplies

Scrawlerbox No. 122 ‘Hocus Pocus’ Hocus Pocus, wizardry woo… #scrawlrboxchallenge #scrawlrbox122 Why lift the potions thought this young conjourer when you can wiggle your wand and have them lift themselves. It’s just a little magic and spell flinging after all… Catching up on some Scrawlrbox fun with the newest box to arrive at my door. Really liked the Winsor and Newton promarkers but what really boosted it up a level was the Derwent pencils that when you squiggled the marker over the top turned them from pastels to darker shades. #hocuspocus #wizardart #witchart #magicalillustration #scrawlrbox #magic #artchallenge

Just a little piece about pumpkins… I am feeling very cosy season again this evening and started a brand new batch of pumpkin themed curio cabinet art. I am excited for going pumpkin picking in the next two weeks - we have them around the house all year long until they go a bit weird and then put them on the step at the back of the house where they become mummified, I still don’t know why it happens but I have a cute set of forever garden pumpkins now too. #pumpkins #pumpkinart #curiocabinetart #folkart #cosyart #fallvibes🍁 #fallart #cosypumpkins #pumpkinlover #norwichartists

Scrawlrbox No. 113 ‘Fantasy Forest’ #scrawlrchallenge The dark forest was magical and for all it was enchanted it was dangerous and deadly to travel through but for those who could make it to the heart of this fantasy forest, they would unfurl the greenest of hearts. New year and new supplies so I’m back with my scrawlr updates, this time we got #fabercastellcreativemarker in our box and they are somewhere between a regular Fabre castle watercolour pen and a posca marker. I enjoyed using them with a ceramic palette and some water because it softened the colours and let me layer them for this picture. #scrawlrbox113 #fabercastell #artchallenge #subscriptionbox #mynewartsupplies #scrawlrstar #scrawlrboxchallenge #forestart #folkloreart #fantasyforest
