Walking by on Bloor Street today, you'll see red dresses hanging outside in our garden. These are in memory of all missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people. Today, we grieve, honour, and commit ourselves to action for justice and healing. #RedDressDay2026 @unitedchurchcanada May 5 is Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S). It is a day of remembrance—and a call to act. Let us honour the lives lost, support the grieving, seek justice for the missing, and continue to raise our voices and speak out against colonization, racism, and the injustice of MMIWG2S. Indigenous women are sacred: life-givers, knowledge keepers, and leaders in their communities. The violence they face is rooted in ongoing colonial systems that continue to put their lives at risk. This crisis is not behind us. It continues. Today, you can: 📍 Hang a red dress outside your home or church as a public witness 🤝 Join Red Dress Day events in your community ❤️ Support the United Church’s Healing Fund: https://ow.ly/iUy350YV1tX 🙏 Pray for action to end this violence: God of justice and compassion, we remember today the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people whose lives were sacred and loved. We grieve with families and communities who carry loss and unanswered questions. We lament the systems of racism and colonialism that continue to cause harm. Stir our hearts beyond remembrance into action. Give us courage to listen deeply, to speak truthfully, and to work for safety, dignity, and justice for all. May the red dresses we see today call us to accountability and hope— until every life is honoured, and all your people can live in peace. Amen. #UCCan #MMIWG2S #RedDressDay NoMoreMMIWG2S

From yesterday's Sermon, "A Place for All: Identity and Belonging in God's House", offered by Rev. Hewitt T. Holmes on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Fifth Sunday of Easter and the First Sunday in May, Asian History Month. If you missed yesterday's sermon, you can head to our YouTube channel at the link in our bio. “One beam cannot support a great house.” Jesus tells us why: “because in my Abba’s house are many dwelling places.” And in God’s house, which is a strong place, all of us are held and belong. Many and varied cultures, many and varied languages, many and varied stories, many and varied gifts… and so let us make this city, and this congregation, a place where uncertainty meets peace, a place where identity is honoured, a place where belonging becomes real, and a place where every beam matters.”

The Trinity-St. Paul's community is excited to share that Rev. Dr. Nan Hudson is returning to TSP as our first Voluntary Associate Minister (VAM)! In the United Church of Canada, a VAM is an ordered minister who, on a voluntary basis, shares in aspects of a congregation's ministry, offering leadership, wisdom, and pastoral presence. This appointment was made by the TSP Board and the Shining Waters Regional Council. Nan was with us in 2025 as our supply minister, and we are thrilled that she will be returning to Trinity-St. Paul's as our VAM. Welcome back, Nan! We will covenant with Nan at our service this Sunday, May 3rd at 10:30am. All are welcome to join us!

Blessings for Earth Day... 🌎 Poem of the One World, by Mary Oliver: "This morning the beautiful white heron was floating along above the water and then into the sky of this the one world we all belong to where everything sooner or later is a part of everything else which thought made me feel for a little while quite beautiful myself."

“Weren’t our hearts burning inside us as this one talked to us on the road and explained the scriptures to us?” (Jn 24:30). As Jesus walked with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, so too he walks with us, on every road and every journey. This Sunday we celebrate this constant companionship as we welcome new members into our community and consecrate our lay leaders for service and ministry. All are invited to join us at 10:30am in the Sanctuary or on Zoom! You can find the link to join and a copy of the bulletin on our website at trinitystpauls.ca/worship
