In football, @trinemhallwfc won Plates (picture 1), @tithallfc made it to the Plates final, and PhD student Stéphen Theron-Grimaldi's team won the MCR Cup 2026 (picture 2)! On the River Cam, our 4 @trinityhallboatclub crews had many successes in the Radegund Mile, a series of 2km time trial races (picture 3). And at the University level, PhD student Mineli Cooray (picture 4) hit the ground running in Varsity Cricket at Lord's Cricket Ground, securing a victory against rivals Oxford. Trinity Hall students often find their research taking them in unexpected directions, opening up new and exciting ways to create positive change. 🌍 Now in the second year of his PhD, Tyler Holderness is translating his research into real-world impact in the local area, with recent work leading to a collaboration with South Cambridgeshire District Council and Greater Cambridge Shared Waste. Joining the ai@cam Local Government AI Accelerator, a University of Cambridge initiative to help local government use AI effectively, Tyler is using his knowledge of computer learning to help public services deploy AI to tackle fly-tipping. “It’s exciting to do something that is immediately beneficial to our city, and applies my research in a practical way.” Want to know more? Your magazine, ‘Front Court’, is now available to view online! 🧑‍💻 Here’s a sneak peek of what’s in this issue: We get taken behind the scenes of student theatre with director Tom Barry (2023, Physiological Sciences). 🎭 We hear from our student ambassador, Florence Assetto (2023, Law), about why outreach is so important. 🤝 We celebrate the first women at College with alumna Joanna Wade (1977, Law). 👩‍🎓 We catch up with Fellow Professor Valeriya Malysheva on her research into how brain cells make decisions. 🧬 And our Reverend Dr Stephen Plant talks about the Cambridge sermon that shook the nation. 📖 Read ‘Front Court’ online through the link in bio. A nail-biting row to the finish 🚣🏽‍♀️ Congratulations to Flo (left) and Sophie (right) on placing as joint winners with Newnham College in the double sculls category at the Small Boats Regatta, a University‑wide series of timed knockout races along the River Cam. Keeping us on our toes throughout the race, the Trinity Hall crew crossed the finish line with a margin of less than a second before the Newnham boat, meaning the two crews were declared joint winners of the race. Flo and Sophie typically row as part of the Women's First crew containing eight rowers, so winning in the double sculls was a new adventure for them both. Sophie Tang: "Racing in a double is very different to an eight. The boat is much lighter and more responsive, so you really feel the impact of every movement you make. It requires a high level of precision, but that’s what makes it so rewarding when it comes together." Watch out for the competitive duo with their equally competitive crewmates in May Bumps this year - they're ready for the cannon to sound!

With music flowing through the grounds at College, we popped in to the Chapel to find our resident harpsichordist and Director of Music, Andrew Arthur, and baroque violinist, Rachel Stroud, in their final rehearsal for this weekend’s concert. 🎹 Bringing you on a journey through an assortment of beautiful works, @dialogus1685 are set to dazzle us with a programme of English sonatas, including pieces from the Hague Collection from our very own Old Library archives. We can't wait for their sold-out performance! 🎻 Interested in attending future concerts? Keep an eye out on our events page for more College performances. [link in bio].

Over the Easter break, our Chapel Choir travelled to Rome for a series of concerts, delighting audiences with their performances of English, Italian and French works, spanning six centuries. 🎼 Conducted by Fellow & Director of Music, Andrew Arthur, the choir and organ scholars performed in three beautiful settings – the Oratorio di San Francesco Saverio del Caravita and the Anglican Churches of All Saints' and St Paul’s Within the Walls - and had the opportunity to explore Rome together. Spot their selfie in front of the Pantheon! 📸 Congratulations to all members of our @trinityhall.chapelchoir music community. We look forward to welcoming them back for the first evensong of the Easter term, on 3 May at 6pm in our very own Chapel here at Trinity Hall.

Our power, our planet 🌏 With growing efforts across the world to prepare for the effects of climate change, our community’s research is more crucial than ever. Their research not only informs discussions on how we can protect our planet’s future, but also helps us understand the Earth’s environmental past. Check out some of our Trinity Hall members’ research this Earth Day through the link in bio. Which research do you find the most interesting – melting ice shelves, mass extinctions or the energy transition? 🤔 📸 Picture 1: Fellow Dr Rebecca Dell with @stcatharinescollege Fellow Professor Ian Willis (photo by Mark Chambers) 📸 Picture 2: Alumnus Professor John Marshall 📸 Picture 3: Natural Sciences student Elizabeth Noon 📸 Picture 4: Engineering student Illia Aksenchenko #earthday #universityofcambridge #cambridgeuniversity
