Who was Ruby Hughes? A strong advocate and community activist, she was also an Albany County legislator, and 19-year employee of Trinity Institution (our former name) and its Homer Perkins Center. She managed our afterschool, summer enrichment, and training and development of special skills for youth programs. Ms. Ruby, who passed in 2019 at age 84, was a positive force for the community and its youth.
The block party on Trinity Place between Westerlo Street and Madison Avenue—also named Ruby A. Hughes Way—will be a family-friendly event featuring free fun, food, music, games, vendors and more. Meet your neighbors—or bring them along!

Join us in congratulating our Health & Wellness Division Leader Sara Adams, who was honored today as a member of the @albanybusinessreview 40 Under 40 Class of 2026.
Sara has been instrumental in forging partnerships that expand access to healthcare and wellness services. She played a key role in bringing Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS), Maria College, and CDPHP into active collaboration with Trinity Alliance. These partnerships have enhanced community-based health screenings, education, and service delivery—bridging gaps between academic institutions, healthcare providers, and community members who often face barriers to care.
Many of our programs result from the efforts of Sara and her team, and we could not be prouder of her. Congratulations, Sara!

Community leaders, partners, and stakeholders gathered this morning to mark the 10-year milestone of the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) initiative in Albany and to recognize a significant new investment from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region announced $1,149,995 in funding from DCJS to support Albany LEAD. This funding ensures the continuation of critical services provided through St. Catherine’s Center for Children’s Homeless Services and the Albany County Department of Mental Health clinical team, allowing this essential work to continue without interruption. These teams serve some of the most vulnerable members of our community. This investment strengthens a proven, evidence-based model that prioritizes connection to care over arrest and supports long-term stability.
“LEAD is what it looks like when a community chooses care over criminalization,” Trinity Alliance CEO Daquetta P. Jones-Johnson said. “At Trinity Alliance, we are honored to serve as the project management and community engagement lead for this work, in partnership with our Policy Coordinating Group and Operations Work Group. Since launching in Albany in 2016, nearly 600 individuals have been connected to LEAD—reflecting both the depth of need and the trust this initiative has built in our community.”
Albany was the third community to adopt the LEAD approach. There are now 60 across the country.
"For 10 years, LEAD has shown Albany County what real public safety looks like,” Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon said. “It is not just arrests and convictions but also getting to the root of why people end up in the criminal justice system in the first place."
