The Church of Englandâs pilot Elizabeth Pathway is a new ordination training route designed for older, experienced lay leaders who are discerning a call to ordained ministry. It builds on participantsâ life experience, faith, and leadership experience within the Church.
Trinity is excited to be able to offer the pathway. Elizabeth candidates will get to experience formation in our community, either as Bristol-based residential students, or via our part-time context-based route, which still involves a good amount of time worshipping and learning residentially onsite (four block weeks a year).
Eligibility:
Candidates must be aged between 53 to 65 (although approval can be sought for older candidates on an exceptional basis). They will be mature in their faith of at least five years, with at least two years of active engagement in a local Anglican church or equivalent, and expecting to remain in their local church context.

Ever wondered what to do with all the biblical references to angels, demons, principalities and powers? Perhaps you are from a church that understands spiritual warfare and you would like to be more theologically equipped. Or perhaps you go to a church that feels embarrassed every time the devil is mentioned in the liturgy. In either case, this course will help you better understand and think about the spiritual realm. This is an interdisciplinary course where we will be looking at the topic through biblical, doctrinal, ethical, and pastoral perspectives.

What makes Context-based learning at Trinity College Bristol different?
Through our Context-based training, you can live anywhere in the country yet still benefit from studying with us and being part of our community. Context-based students attend college for six block weeks during the academic year, during which you are fully immersed in the Trinity community, eating, worshipping and studying together, socialising, cementing friendships and having fun. You stay in accommodation on-site, and have your own single study bedroom. All meals are provided while youâre at college to allow you to focus on your studies.
