Below is the press release for my position at @neucoeln : "Eric Schmid’s 2022 book Prolegomenon to a Treatise is a work whose concerns ultimately divide down a line between an explicit project of correcting the course of the trajectory of contemporary philosophy and an implicit elucidation of a variegated artistic-cultural practice whose effective sine qua non is proposed to be none other than this attempted navigational correction. That the legacy of Kant is both implicitly invoked through the title’s resemblance to his Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics and explicitly drawn upon by the opening sentence of the preface (which defines the work as an attempt to create a transcendental method employing mathematical axiomatics alongside a deflationary process of eliminative structural realism) speaks to Schmid’s palpable conviction that pernicious forms of metaphysical dogmatism still abound, and Critique may well be revived through harnessing the intensional analyticity intrinsic to fields such as Category Theory and Homotopy Type Theory. In other words, ontology finds its way back into the tribunal, but this time it finds 18th century Euclidean apodicticity supplanted by topological invariants whose capacities to generate autonomous localizations and outmode embedding space portend novel conceptual foundations and drastic reconfigurations.  This elaboration of the scientific image pursued throughout the duration of the text is then not without its counterpart manifest image whose reciprocal interactions with the former transform the meaning and import of the works of art that comprise the latter. The exhibition of multiple copies of this work then partakes in that manifest image by way of pointing to its condition in summa, while the work’s content cannot but now point to its reciprocated condition in medias res." - Guido Gamboa
