God I miss this man. They say grief is a lasting, painful testament to the depth of affection. It's been almost been a year since he became my angel. Almost a whole year of grief and losing a parent was not on my 2025 bingo card and I hate it. Grief brings on these crying waves, a tightness in my chest and leaves this heavy pit in your stomach. There's this constant longing to just have one more hug and say one more thing and knowing you can't sucks! I miss his voicemails with his timestamps reminding to clear my voicemail box because it's full. I miss him callling and singing "I just called to say I love you. I miss all the flowers he would bring me and our silly Denny dates. I miss dancing with you and dancing to the beat your congas. I miss our drives to venice listening to Bob Marley but most of all I miss you! They say grief is final act of love but I believe in letting the love continue through several acts. I will always continue to celebrate you through music, every jam sess, every concert makes me feel a little bit closer to you. He didn't have much but he always had a trunk full of instruments and always knew how to put a smile on people's faces whether it was through his congas or storytelling. December came and gave me that ounce of Christmas magic. Thank you to every single person who gave me the Christmas spirit that I crave every year. Thanks for sharing your love, energy, family and lifting me up this year. I've never felt more alone this year but you all showered me with texts, calls, christmas cards, my bonus nieces and nephews and got me out the house, excited to decorate (even if it was on Christmas Eve),to dance and wipe them tears. Can't wait to end this mf year and excited for another one with all of you!
