This is a poem about pain and strength and love
It is about overcoming the things that hurt so bad that sometimes I think I want to die
It is about pleasure
I hurt so bad
I feel so good
I wish I didn’t feel this way
I am so happy to feel this way
How can I understand any of this
This city is making me ill
I feel all I can do sometimes is cry
But tears are a gift of freedom
Pain blesses my being with peace and grace
The light of my love shines brightly into the depths of my being
How can it all be true
Life is full of contradictions
Life is a contradiction
Mother Earth please hold me through this concrete
Let me know your peace
Remind me that you meet me where I am with every step

I started writing this poem with the intention of reading it over some audio that I was producing but was feeling a bit stuck in production and short on time. So I shifted my efforts into sampling other artists and then the poem evolved alongside the evolution of the audio. I thought that painting the words would make the performance more engaging. It’s not often you get to run around painting the floor and walls of a building during a set. I didn’t make a post when I released this song in October but I was thinking about it today and wanted to share.I feel like this song is an ode to the sounds of life that I absorb and are then hyper-present in my subconscious — churning as I move through the physical space of life. Or rather I think it is the sounds that move me. An ode to the frequencies that make me feel alive or maybe even keep me alive or IS life itself. The title is a nod to my beliefs about time and space being both infinitely dimensional and interconnected. How in many ways “here” may very well be “there” and “then” may very well be right now. This concept is extremely relevant when I create most of my songs and my use of samples for this track specifically really triggered these thoughts. The vocal samples of women from Uganda singing, a Brazilian-Canadian musician covering an English singer-songwriter from the 70s, drums from a fellow Pennsylvanian, field recordings from public transportation in Japan. I am connected to it all and I feel the movement of it all as if it were the very movement of my feet against the ground in front of me.
