5 Years of rain 🌧️ 5 Years ago, we started @rain_labs with a clear vision: to amplify emerging African artists voices into global brands. 5 years later, we’ve become home of the Up Next African artists - We won’t be here without our roster of talented artists, partners, teammates and believers! Thank you all! Our mission is still the same: Build a future where African creativity leads, connects, thrives - and where artists are rightfully compensated through diverse and sustainable revenue streams. The mission continues🙏🏾 To another 5 years 🥂

Issue#16, April’26. As African music dominates global charts, @trebla233 is focused on something deeper, building the systems, narratives, and access that sustain it. From spotting talent early to reframing how the world hears African sound, his work sits at the intersection of culture, access, and intention. Read the full feature via link in bio. November 2022. A close friend sends me a spotify link - “Just found this guy, he’s Nigerian, based in Abu Dhabi.” I listened. Replied “wow, that’s some dope stuff.” And kept it moving. Almost a year later, this same kid is commenting on @rain_labs posts, sliding into our dms asking for support. I told him to email me his stuff. I clicked the link and within minutes I was asking for his whatsapp no. What I didn’t know then was he’d already emailed twice in 2023. Once about an internship, once to push his music. The timing was all wrong. I was still in the trenches building the company with a full time job. Good thing he was persistent. I flew to Abu Dhabi just to catch him live. 300 Spotify followers and a fully managed Apple Music show. Make it make sense chale! I walked away knowing everything I needed to know. @jiiresmith is one of those rare ones. Intentional, self-aware, hungry to grow and genuinely not too good at FIFA 😂. Today I executive produced his debut EP. Every word, every note - by him. The song sent to me in 2022 is Track 1 of the EP! Signalling this is the beginning of something special. “Diamond In A Process” EP out now on all platforms! An arena near you. Soon!

It’s that time of the year again. Every year, I support a brilliant but financially challenged student in Ghana to complete their tertiary education especially those who have started but are struggling to continue due to funding issues, or those with admissions and great grades but no financial backing. If you or you know someone who fits this, kindly send their story and relevant documents such as admission letter, grades, official fees to [email protected] If I don’t reply, it doesn’t mean I haven’t seen it, I go through all and will reach out to the ones I choose. Also, if you’re interested in helping (a few friends and family usually come on board), feel free to reach out. Ghana only, as that’s where I can do proper due diligence. Do not DM me your submissions. Email only. This is not a public scheme and do not submit multiple times. Please share 🙏🏾
