Happy Birthday to Stevie Wonder. In my opinion, this five-album run is still the greatest of all time. It was high on my bucket list to see him live, a truly joyful experience I hope to achieve again if given the opportunity. ❤️🎂
Just watched this 1983 remake for the first time. If you’re into hyper-stylistic presentations of very attractive actors spending most of their screen time unclothed, reading Silver Surfer comics, running from the law, and blasting Jerry Lee Lewis, you probably enjoyed it as much as I did. A car chase around L.A. set to the Pretenders’ ‘Message of Love’ is a major highlight. Gere is particularly obnoxious in this but never uninterestingly so. Not much is required of the French actress, Valérie Kaprisky, other than to pout occasionally, get naked, and look beautiful doing both; fortunately, she excels at this. I know I’m not supposed to like this more than Godard’s original, but I probably do.
