A few weeks ago, I had the honor of visiting Indigenous communities in my beloved Borikén 💜 and I’m still carrying the energy of that experience with me.
One of the most meaningful moments of that week was teaching a Taíno language class at
@croec_pagina_oficial , a school for highly gifted STEM students, using a sample from "Tainonaíki para principiantes", the first digital course for Taíno. The students' curiosity, enthusiasm, and openness were deeply moving. By the end of the session, we could already see how naturally they were connecting with the language—and with something much older than all of us. 🌀
This experience is part of a much larger step forward: The launch of "Tainonaíki for Beginners", the world’s first digital Taíno language course, created by
@casaareyto with the support of 7000 Languages, the National Native American Language Resource Center, volunteer language advocates, and the
@transparentlanguage platform, which makes it accessible in libraries across the United States, Canada, and Europe, expanding access to Taíno on an unprecedented scale. 🎉
What began as a dream to give voice to our ancestors is slowly becoming a living reality.
There is still so much more ahead, but I wanted to share this moment of gratitude and momentum.
